3L EVA Dual Open

I used this bladder for an Appalachian Trail section hike in the summer of 2016. It fit perfectly into the hydration compartment of my Kelty Coyote 80 backpack. I had no "plastic" taste, no leaks, and no malfunctions. I was concerned that the hose might disconnect or otherwise leak in my pack (and I was pretty rough with it at times), but it worked like a champ. I was able to remove it and reinsert it without emptying my pack -- I just pushed it (forced it) into the hydration sleeve (like I said, I was pretty rough with it at times).The clip-closure on the top is a MUST HAVE. It's way easier to fill (and clean & dry) with that wide opening. If you are hiking in an area with trickling water sources (or just a shallow puddle fed by a trickle), this thing is easy to fill by just opening the top flap.I cut my tube and inserted a Sawyer Mini filter "in line". My buddy was filtering water into hydration bottles. He wasted a lot of time filtering a each water stop, and it was much harder for him to "drink on the go". This one also has an insulation sleeve, though I'm not sure it did a lot to help keep my water cool(er).The only issue I encountered was with the push-on / push-off "shutoff" on the bite valve. If I pulled too hard to open the safety value, the end would pull off entirely. It easily snapped back on, so it wasn't a big deal for me. I just learned to be a little more careful opening the shutoff (or just leave it open since very little water drips from the bite value when you aren't biting down on it).This was a great product at a great price.

The item is well made and the materials are of excellent quality. First of all the seams are well made and can hold up to the stresses of hiking and biking. The top slides off to allow for easy access and drying.The top holds up well and will NOT slide off while using, and will not leak. I like the insulated hose because it does not condensate which is a big plus because of dusty conditions that sometimes occur during hiking or biking. The attachment mechanism is simple and holds well. The water will not leak out when the hose is removed, it will only come out when the hose is attached. The bite mechanism works well and the hose lock works fine.Recently took it on a 10 mile hike and put in cold fridge water at around 8 AM. The water was cold ALL day even at 8PM when I was back home. Functioned well and there was no after taste. (NOTE): rinse the bladder with a 7% saline solution and some warm water. This will remove any chemical taste.NOTE TO MANUFACTURER: Please fix the dust cap (cap that covers the drinking region) it keeps coming off and does not stay clicked into place. I went on a 10 mile hike and it got dusty at times, my cap came off and dust was all over the drinking part. I would recommend harder plastic cap that clicks in and stays in rather than the softer cap.Edit: 03/2020Works great to this day and I’m afraid this is the only water bladder I will ever need for the foreseeable future. It’s in the same condition as day 1. Bottom line is that it is of great quality and if you rinse it out after use and line dry it, it will take care of you. So far it has been on multiple hiking trips and never let me down. 3L is a wonderful capacity and should be enough for most hikes. Max hike I did was roughly 20 miles in the summer and 3 L was enough. (I’d carry a filter just incase). Overall very happy with the product.

I am upgrading my initial review from 1 to 4 stars. Here is why:1) Initially, I gave this hydration bladder only 1 star because it failed at the basic purpose of the product's intended use; namely, to keep water in. Mine leaked right out of the filler cap area the first time I put water in it, and I was obviously disappointed. If it leaked, none of the other features like the locking hose or the mouthpiece cap really mattered.2) WACOOL customer service reached out to me because I was looking for a way to return it and not only sent me a new one, but also offered to refund my money. That right there is EXCELLENT customer service, I give it another star simply based on the support and standing behind their gear 100%. Even if I decided I didn't like the bladder for some reason, it cost me nothing to give it a second try, so 2nd star I automatically awarded for WACOOL's great customer service.3) The 3rd star...WACOOL sent me a new replacement and I tested it out...it also leaked, though not quite as bad as the first one. [Note: I was not testing these bladders to capacity either at this point, nor was I putting significant pressure on the bladder itself, such as might be experienced when in a camelback or backpack.] I played around with different amounts of water in the bladder, and the closer I got to "capacity", the more it was prone to leak a little around the cap. Again, not quite as noticeable as the first one, but enough to be annoying and knowing my gear would get wet eventually. HERE IS WHERE I FOUND THE SOLUTION!! As I had just spent half an hour making a mess on the counter again and was about to give up, I made one more attempt: I took the cap off one of my old Nalgene bottles and tried it on the hydration bladder. Result: NO MORE LEAKING!!! At this point, my Nalgene is now without a lid, but since the point of me buying a hydration pack to begin with was to increase my carrying capacity and move away from a hard plastic container in my pack...this is a sacrifice I think I am willing to make. At this point, the other features like the locking-hose, mouthpiece cap, you can remove the hose even while bladder is full, the slide open/close access at the top actually began to matter now that the hydration bladder was not leaking on it's own...these all earned the product a 3rd star.4) The 4th star is awarded because once I found that a Nalgene lid fit and solved the leak issue, I filled it all the way to capacity and began to give it a real-life test with a little bit of pressure...ok, I was probably border-line abusing the hydration bladder at this point trying to see how much pressure it would take to fail...and it didn't. Not only that, but I never had an issue with any leaking at all out the slide open/close fold at the top, which is pretty impressive right there. Again, I put it through the ringer this time...and I was gaining confidence in the bladder material and seams and was impressed with how much pressure it was taking...I don't know exactly how many pounds of pressure I put on it, but it was at least 10-15 on the conservative side, and that was with the bladder maxed to capacity.**) I did not give it the 5th star for the following reasons: I had to sacrifice a Nalgene bottle to get a lid that didn't leak. Also, the measurement markings on the bladder are slightly off, and it doesn't truly hold 3L in the bladder: I measured exactly 3L in 1L increments and couldn't get 3L to fit without having to dump some out to close the bladder.OVERALL: It's a good hydration bladder. I'm happy with it now that I swapped the lid, and WACOOL's customer support was great. I'll probably buy another WACOOL bladder simply because their service was great.

I used it on a 7-mile hike in Lassen National Park, a 5-mile hike in Great Basin National Park, and a 7-mile hike along the south rim of the Grand Canyon, and it worked perfectly. At first I thought it had leaked, because my pants and shirt were quite wet and I had to take my billfold out of my back pocket; however, I could find no water escaping from anywhere, so I believe it was merely condensation from the ice I added to the water. To confirm this, I later filled the bladder with lukewarm water and tried again; no leakage.I don’t think the tube insulation does much good. After only a few minutes the water inside was no longer cool, but after two sucks, you get the cool water from the bladder. There is a slight taste from water in the tube, but almost none from the bladder.I would recommend this to everyone, with the suggestion that some sort of clamp may need to be used to secure the hose to the mouthpiece. Each time I pulled on the mouthpiece to open it, the hose slid slightly; however, it was only about 1/8", never enough to cause it to slide off.This is a great hydration bladder, suitable for any purpose.

Got this to take on a hike to Half Dome, Yosemite. They recommended 4L, this holds 3L. Took this plus additional 1L in bottles. I washed it and filled it the day before to check for leaks and get the hang of it.I really liked how the top comes off until I tried to figure out how to secure it back on. It kept sliding off and didn't feel secure no matter how many times I tried folding the bag first before sliding ity on. Finally found a review that said fold the top over once and make sure it fills all the way to the top of the slide (if that makes sense) and it secured it well! I wouldn't recommended trying to carry it or hang it by the top with water in it but it's secure enough to place in a backpack.The bladder is thicker than any other I've seen and feels very durable. I filled it and placed in a 2 gallon zip lock bag and put it in my backpack and set off on an all day hike. The straw us SO easy to use compared to other camelbacks and it has a covering over the tube which is nice as well.Water stayed cool in my insulated backpack throughout the day and this really did it's job! I'm going to take it on an upcoming cruise and definitely will be using for future hikes!!

I originally ordered this bladder when I was getting ready for a week long backpacking trip to Iceland. After procrastinating a bit and getting all my gear just a few days before my flight, I received the bladder and found that it had a slight impression left in the side of it that has stretched the material thin. I already had a full pack and the thought of it popping and getting all of my gear wet and leaving me without water wasn't very comforting to say the least, so I emailed the company to inform them of the product's condition. They responded almost immediately that they would send me a new one and in fact gave me a Amazon product code to have one delivered on two day shipping free of charge! The bladder worked just as advertised. It was easy to fill, it's easy to clean. The hose connects super easy and it's no problem getting it in and out of your pack. As a guy who sweats a lot, I was drinking all 3 liters on each day of my hike, so I'm glad to have found such a product that is both affordable and dependable. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone.

Product seems to be quite well made, and well-engineered. I was a little worried after reading a previous review reporting leaks at the cap, but thought I'd take the chance, as they also found a fix for the issue. I tested it with water, after doing the suggested salt water rinse. I filled it both partially and very full, and put pressure on it under both conditions. At first, the cap did leak, but after further investigation, I realized I had not tightened the cap fully. There is a beveled edge inside the cap that contacts the filler neck inside the opening, and I only tightened to the first resistance, not fully seating the cap. Once I turned the cap another 1/4 (ish) turn, it was fully seated and leak-free. I have had no issues with either the top seal, nor the quick-disconnect. As far as the insulated sleeve goes, I live in Southern Arizona. Any water you carry, unless it's vacuum insulated, is going to get warm. I had no expectations of magically cold water pouring forth from my water bag, but the sleeve does do a great job of keeping the sun (read ultraviolet light here) from damaging the drinking tube, so I'm happy.

I originally bought this to put into my REI pack that has a bladder pocket. I bought this thing during a lightning sale and was pretty cheap compared to other bladders of its size..I loved using it on my day hikes where I didn't care about weight... but once I started backpacking, that weight became a real factor. This thing weighs half a lb without the water in it. Half a pound is a LOT when going on overnights and trying to put in some miles..I don't understand the insulation on the straw since the actual bladder isn't insulated... if the water gets warm, who cares if the straw is insulated, i'm still sipping warm water... it's just added weight..I did a trial of carrying the exact same weight in water with smart water bottles and it was such a significant difference that I couldn't help but cut this bladder out of my gear... in comparison a smart water bottle is like 1.2 oz per liter bottle emptied.. compared to 8+ ozs to carry the same weight in water, cutting that weight in half just in storage... I can say that the bladder straw is super convenient when hiking cuz you can just take the straw and have a drink without stopping... but I learned that the smaller smart water bottles come with a spout that can be replaced on the bigger 1L bottles. So taking out the bottle and taking a sip is no problem while on the move, and once u finish the bottle, you can swap the top with another bottle.Smart water bottles are something I carry always along with the bladder anyway because of it's ease of use with my sawyer water filter so it's something that will never leave my pack... that being said.. I'd rather carry an extra bottle or two (altho it takes up more space than a bladder).If you are a backpacker that is also counting the ounces... skip this bladder and opt for smart water bottles, or maybe a lighter platypus (i don't like platypus because it has leaked on me with 2 different versions of their bladders, the main reason why I went for something more heavy-duty or substantial to holding up more than 2L)If you're using for a day-hike, this thing is awesome if you don't mind the weight... but for backpacking, it's a no-go if you're trying to lighten your load.

This is a great bladder. I have used it about 5 times now and it works as expected without any leaks. It is really easy to fill because it has a plastic handle around the opening where the water goes in, which keeps the bladder stable while you are filling it up. The bladder also really easy to clean. All you need to do is to unscrew the top and unhook the bladder entirely.I also really enjoy the quick connector of the tube from the bag. It doesn't leak at all and makes it much easier while cleaning the bag or filling up. I will buy more of these when I am back in the market. So glad I got this!

I put this inside an existing 2L pack and it works well enough. I have been impressed by the construction. The bag is well made and easy to clean.I am concerned about losing the clip as that is the only thing that keeps this bag sealed.Other than that I had to use a small zip-tie where the insulation attaches to the hose because it would slide up and down as I opened the nozzle to drink. Hopefully the insolation cover and proper care will prevent anything from growing in the tube.

I bought this because I have an ileostomy and need to drink a lot of fluids in a 24 hour period I keep it with me through the night so I can take drinks all night. It holds a lot of water and never leaks. I can also keep it with me in the car or while I’m sitting in my chair.

Works totally fine! Happy for the outcome from what I spend!The bag fits 2L and it holds the shape. It was a rough walk but the bag survived.Tube is good design, I have no trouble drinking the water and it doesn’t make any mess. You need to bite the tube to be able to suck from it which is great. No water spills, whatsoever.Price is so much cheaper than Anaconda in Australia and with this quality, I’d continue to buy it.
