Lombard Street : a description of the money market

Seminal and relevant but very poor publication quality
A very important book with much to say about the way we manage financial systems today. However, as a publication the book left a lot to be desired. It's actually published by Amazon and looks and feels like a word processed student essay stuck between a cheap plastic binder. I bought it for my shelf's posterity having already read it in Kindle. It was a waste of money. I'll have to wait to pick it up in a 2nd hand shop sometime.

Essential on financial market
Essential reading for understanding development of financial markets and central banks.... And if you are one of those working on Lombard street or walk past it every morning, then no excuses for putting this off for another time.

A must for anyone interested in the history of the ...
A must for anyone interested in the history of the British financial and ruling elite of the last 200 years. There is a wealth of realistic pictures lurking in the background of a very bankish disseration (which is, of course, a must in its own right for anyone wanting to understand bankers and the City of London).

Great book, very interesting
What I found most interesting about this book was to see how many of the issues that have been discussed for the last few years were already under discussion back in the XIX century. This version contains some typos and the tables containing figures are difficult to read. Not a big problem, mainly after taking into consideration the price that you pay for the book.

A RATHER DRY, NICHE PUBLICATION
I didn't much enjoy this and it definitely failed my Beach Read Test. But I suspect that some, maybe many, of the author's observations and conclusions still have some relevance to the banking operations of today's Lombard Street. And I suspect that the author knew far more about how the market worked than some of those running our banks a decade or so ago. He might well have made a good director at the Bank of England. Who might enjoy this? Those going up to university to read Economics, probably. And those succumbing to the allure of a job in the City. There were no quality issues with my Kindle version.

But what great historical tidbits
A tough read in parts, and clear bias from the author! But what great historical tidbits.

Gut, aber sehr kleine Schrift.
Leider sehr kleine Schrift, ohne Brille könnte ich es heute nicht mehr lesen. Daher nur vier von fünf Sterne. Lieferung hat tadellos und schnell funktioniert.

Great subject. That's what Central Banks do!
I am an economist by education. So it all is familiar to me. However,it is always enlightening, to compare, the way it was to the way it is. Nothing has changed, just technology. Now days, Central Banks do not even print Currencies, they just add it in digital format to its accounts. Then they just credit banks & debit its own accounts & vice versa, when banks pay back. No gold standards, money could be created in any amounts. Perhaps, Governments, should stop taxations. Create as much digital currency as needed, to support itself. People will have more to spend. Money supply will create inflation. Yet, who cares if the society is happy. )))

Banking Bible
Walter has written Banking 101. If you want to read about banking, it's origins, features and branching out, then there is nothing better than this book. The author begins with the good explanations of many things that we are generally accustomed with but maybe do not have deeper understanding of. There is good detailing of the evolution of the system as well which helps develop a perspective on why and how the system developed. What I also liked is that the author has given adequate importance to the people and institutions which helped shape up the system. This has generated a lot of interest in me to pursue this further and read more about these people and institutions. A must read book for all those who are looking to read on Banking and its evolution.

Good overview of money
Draw your own conclusions, but it makes you think about the nature of money and the purpose of banking. Also made me realize how fragile society is.
