Great for African American Babies with Eczema!
I have been using this lotion along with the body wash on my baby boy since he was an infant. He is now 18 months old, and we still use it daily. My baby had eczema on his face and some on his body in the early months. I tried other moisturizers: Eucerin, Aquaphor which is totally greasy and made it worse, and Aveeno Baby Eczema Cream. The Restoraderm body wash and lotion were recommended by my pediatric dermatologist. We use both daily. The lotion is very rich and moisturizing without being too greasy. It works well with the body wash. The body wash is gentle with low foam and little smell. Since I use both the wash and the lotion, I cannot say definitively that this lotion eliminated my son's eczema alone. I would not say it is a 'cure' for eczema, but it definitely improves the condition of the skin for faster healing. I do recommend using both in tandem. It seems that my son's skin began to look healthier over time and today he rarely has any eczema outbreaks. His skin is nice and smooth now, especially on his cheeks. I am so glad we found this solution for us because I did not want to use steroidal creams on a daily basis. The prescription cream that we used sparingly and rarely was desonide. This lotion and body wash really made a difference and prevented us from having to rely solely on a steroid cream. The lotion and wash are sometimes hard to find in stores, and are very expensive when you do find them. If you use it on a regular basis and don't have time to run around town searching for them, I recommend Amazon's subscribe and save feature. Amazon's price is the lowest I have found. If you are in a pinch, the Aveeno Baby Eczema Cream is a good alternative, but is a tad lighter although I do like the Aveeno on the face. As another reviewer noted, please test this product and any other product on your baby before slathering it all over to ensure there is no allergic reaction to the product. There is always the potential for the rare occurrence of an allergic reaction. I hope that this product works for the vast majority of babies/people. It definitely works for us!

So far so good...
As an eczema sufferer, I am very optimistic about this new formulation. I'm cautious to give a full endorsement because I've only been using it for a week, but I'm impressed with what I see so far . When applied, it feels like a simple moisturizer but it lasts like a heavy duty thick skin therapy-- comparable to petroleum jelly, or a tub of Eucerin skin repair. I can only tell it was on my skin when I take a shower at night or the next day and I can feel the protective layer it created. There's absolutely nothing else like this. IMPORTANT: Like any lotion used for eczema treatment, you want to apply this within 3 minutes of getting out of the shower. This is important for creating a protective barrier and locking in moisture. A number of people have complained that this burns their skin or their child's skin. I suspect they applied this directly to an area where the eczema was flaring up. I did this once with restoraderm to part of my neck that was flaring up and yes, it will sting-- similar to any lotion that is not a simple variation on petroleum jelly or something very hypoallergenic. This is not what this lotion is for. First, get the inflamed site under control with your doctor's recommended steroidcream. After this skin heals up, you use lotion to maintain the protective layer that many eczema sufferers lack. This is what Restoraderm specializes in. This ceramide therapy is cutting edge. Many people with eczema suffer from a deficiency in Filaggrin, a protein that helps maintain the protective layer on the surface of the skin. (I can't insert a web URL here but look up Filaggrin on wikipedia) Ceramides act as a signaling molecule to stimulate production of more Filaggrin. (Look up ceramides on wikipedia) This stuff is basically medicine. I'm glad I don't need a prescription. Of course, the only downside is the high cost, but this might come down over time. And it's a small price to pay compared to the thousands of dollars I've dropped on dermatologists who have no idea what's going on.

Every baby is different
My nephew, who is 7 years old, has had eczema since he was a baby. So when my 3 month old also got eczema, I called my sister for advice. She swears by Aveeno Baby Eczema Therapy, and I can tell you it worked wonders for my nephew. So I bought it for my baby and started using it. The eczema never got better, it was just like we weren't putting anything on it. After almost two weeks, I went to amazon and started reading reviews for different products. I looked at Cerave and saw another reviewer recommended the Cetaphil Restoraderm over the Cerave because of questionable ingredients. So I ordered the Cetaphil Restoraderm. What a difference! The eczema had got so bad we were going to take him to the doctor the next day. Two applications of this and it started clearing up. We are now on the third day and his eczema spots are almost gone, his skin feels like the soft baby skin it used to feel like. I love that this isn't greasy. It was so hard to put clothes back on our baby after applying the Aveeno product, this soaks in nicely but also doesn't feel like it just soaks away. I just bought a second bottle to keep at our in laws. It would be nice if it came in a different bottle than a pump bottle since the pump bottle can't be transported easily. Even though this isn't a "baby" product it does say safe for babies as young as 3 months. When I first tried it on him I was worried it would sting like some reviewers had said. I watched his face closely and he didn't even flinch. He didn't have any broken skin spots, but the skin was so red and irritated I wondered if it might sting him. I have purposefully rubbed my eyes after applying the lotion on him and I do feel a little tingly sensation, so it might burn if a large amount got into eyes.

CETAPHIL Restoraderm Eczema Calming...
Cetaphil Restoraderm "Eczema Calming" Body Lotion or Moisturizer IS a Fine, Effective product. Unfortunately, Cetaphil corporate labs, product development, and marketing decision-makers desperately need to focus more narrowly on specific product purpose, ingredients, title, sizing, and dispensing. Product names, containers, ingredients, supposed use, and sizes ARE constantly changing---thus, creating prospective buyer confusion about which product or products are most suitable to one's needs. I certainly hope this is not a ongoing marketing strategy to increase sales across the entire line of products available! As to Cetaphil Restoraderm Eczema Calming Body Moisturizer, 10 FL.OZ - The one displayed here, and purchased JAN-2017, has a Silver front label reading "SOOTHING RELIEF" with Blue background. Same size is available, as well as 2-packs and 20 FL.OZ with regular labeling and No SOOTHING RELIEF emblazoned! Suggestion regarding the Push-Down Squeeze Tops: They may be convenient to use early-on, but when the contents can no longer be suctioned, the smart consumer must cut the container in-half to discover that much more useful product is available inside. Of course, the vast majority of buyers toss the container too soon! Cetaphil push-down tops are installed for quick-time turnover. Do your customers a service they deserve. Execute straightaway a more efficient, effective, economical content delivery device.

This lotion is HEALING
First of all - let me tell you that I have had eczema (atopic dermatits) my entire life, as long as I can remember. I'm 27 years old. For my entire life I Have used the cetaphil cream that comes in the tub. Killer deal for 20oz tubs at costco. Its good mositurizer, but doesnt do anything to heal. This year, while having a perticularily HORRIBLE flare up (something in the air or something this year, I swear I havent had this bad of skin in 10+ years) I've been trying new moisturizers to try to give some relief after making the choice to get off topical steriods (ugh). I went all natural, tried Shea butter, coconut oil, cold pressed olive oil, infused with lavender essential oils... tried shea moisture chamomile & argan oil eczema therapy, hemp salve.... etc etc, nothing helped, and if anything made my skin worse. My trouble areas are my face, neck, wrists, forearms and inner elbows. I somehow just discovered this Restoraderm lotion (how did I not know of it sooner?!) and tried it. Duh. I've used Cetaphil products as long as I can remember, so I trust it and its worth a shot. Within 3 days I noticed an improvement. As of today i've gone through an entire bottle and am on bottle #2 and I would say I am 75% clearer. Obv its not a total healing... there is a reason why we eczema people have eczema, and its an internal battle of mine trying to find the root cause. But hey - 75% clearer, i will take that any day. YES like everyone else states it BURNS applying if you have open skin and for me it got worse the first day or 2 before It started getting better. For Kids i can understand not being able to use it. But if you can get it on them kiddos and immediately blow on their hot spots to cool the burning... it passes after just a few minutes. Like 2 or 3 mins and it doesnt burn anymore. If they are full body I can see not being able to use it. If your an adult, you just gotta get over the burn, its temporary... you can do it. Those are my opinions, overall i am very satisfied with this product and am setting myself up for re-order. It might be a little more spendy but totally worth it. If i could figure out how to upload a picture, I would post a before/after shot.

Great Product!
Wonderful. I have eczema on my left hand (the hand that I write with) So it's hard to take care of it when you use it to draw and handle HR work. It gets so dry during winter, that I wouldn't be able to fully bend my fingers back without risking the skin splitting itself open in painful cuts, and I can easily get cuts from any slight thing I'd do. My Doctor recommended several creams/ointments for it but it never helped, and some even made it worse. However, A friend recommended this lotion to me. Without further ado, I purchased it and have been very happy with it since then. The second I rub it against my left hand it instantly soothes the dryness, it no longer hurts, and it doesn't peel off as much as before. The one thing I can say negative about it is that you can't put too much of it or you hands can get sticky and greasy. The best portion to use is approximately dime size. Other than that, it works perfectly fine for me. I would highly recommend this product to others struggling with dry skin or eczema.

helped fix my baby's awful ezcema!
I was looking at a Burt's Bees product for eczema for our baby who was having terrible to severe skin problems. No blisters, but major discoloration of darker skin with red splotches all over (but her face and butt were a pale white skin); rough patches all over including her ankles which were becoming not only rough, but almost callus-like; dry flaky skin all over her upper chest and shoulders; terrible cradle cap even at 8 months old. I read someone's review about how this Cetaphil Restoraderm was the way to go. She had initially gotten the Burt's Bees because of it's natural ingredients but it ended up getting worse on her baby and she changed to the Cetaphil. At this point I had tried so many things for my little girl that I thought I'd give this a shot. As it turns out, our girl was having a reaction to her baby laundry detergent so after we switched that her skin already started to improve. 3 days after switching the detergent, I got this stuff from Amazon and we gave her a bath. Between the 3 changes (we also used the Cetaphil restoraderm eczema calming body lotion), there was an almost immediate wonderful change in her skin. Now, about 3 weeks later, her color is almost all pale white (just like her mama) with just a few light pink splotches here and there, ALL of the rough spots are gone, including her ankles, and the dryness is gone too. It's like she has baby skin again! I am so thankful that woman's recommendation, so thankful for my friend who recommended changing her laundry detergent, and so thankful for Cetaphil!

Best Lotion. Excellent for Babies
The best lotion I have tried on my babies. Smooth, emollient, calming, hydrating. My baby's acne and eczema was so much improved when I switch to this lotion after using other Cetaphil and Mustela baby lotions. It worked by calming the inflamed/irritated areas. Then it gradually but dramatically soften the hard scaly parts on face and body. It didn't take long before everything was soft and smooth as a baby should be. I used it through the summer and through the winter. My baby's skin was always hydrated and supple. I have recommended this to my other mommy friends. It's great whether your baby has eczema or not. It's just wonderful on delicate sensitive baby skin all around. And it is unscented, truly unscented. There is no unpleasant smell from the ingredients.

Excellent for eczema, lichen planus, extremely dry skin, and phototherapy patients
I was hesitant to try this on my skin because I was originally using Live Clean's products until my dermatologist told me to begin using something unscented and with less likelihood to cause my skin condition to flare up. I have an autoimmune disorder, lichen planus, in addition to general sensitivities, and eczema. Yes. I have been going for phototherapy to help ease the significant patches of lichen planus that I have. The phototherapy however, dries my skin out completely. So, I needed something that would help me in the middle of a skin flare up (ie: not many chemicals as with other products), AND something that would still moisturize my skin well because of the UV exposure from the phototherapy. I tried other Cetaphil products and so far, the only one that helps with all of these, AND serves my other skin issues well is this product. I use this in combination with Lyderm, for the patches that are genuinely intolerable. This product probably won't be for everyone. It's also taken me 2 weeks of use to feel a difference. It won't work overnight if you have really sensitive skin. If you have super dry skin, that may be another story altogether. It is a tad greasy when you first put it on, but it's designed to be really moisturizing. If I put this on before bed it's not as bad because I'm sleeping most of the night. I use the lighter products from the Cetaphil line during the day because of this, though. I will say however, that when I bring Cetaphil to phototherapy treatments, the burns are not nearly as bad and the dry, itchy skin that usually follows treatments are lessened. I looked at CeraVe products and chose this one because of the price and the fact that Cetaphil was easier to find in Shopper's Drug Mart, and Walmart. Cetaphil, based on my research, seemed like the budget-friendly answer to CeraVe which has certainly rung true for me. Shipping, logistics, and availability during the pandemic also made me fond of this product because I read a lot of reviews that CeraVe was a popular "panic buy" item. When you need reliable access to a product because of health, rather than expensive tastes, that was a major concern for me. Hence, Cetaphil being my choice. I changed my skincare routine to include this product, and I use the daily facial moisturizer, the bars of soap, the ultra gentle cleanser for my face, and the scrub once a week to slough off the dead dry skin from my treatments. During the day I use the daily moisturizer or the tub of lotion, depending on what I'm doing, whether I will be outside at any point, and whether I'm wearing really breathable clothing. For those looking for something specific to use alongside this in the case of lichen planus, I would also recommend Free and Clear Shampoo and Conditioner! I probably sound like a walking advert, which I somewhat dislike. However, I used to use Live Clean and Lush products almost exclusively, until these issues flared up and I needed something formulated for them. I was so frustrated trying to find something that worked. I had no idea what on earth to do when my lichen planus and eczema got so bad that it covered 1/2 of my body. Nothing worked but this has definitely started to help. It hasn't fixed it because skin conditions are just that: ongoing conditions. However, this product has made them manageable. When you consider that the side effects of my conditions included itchy, dry skin that would be inflamed, painful, cracked, and after phototherapy occasionally turn into blood blisters, manageable is actually a big deal. Hopefully this saves someone some time and money!

Works Wonders!! for my 3month old baby's eczema.
This is the only product that has worked for my eczema and my 3month old baby's severe eczema. This doesnt say for baby but I tried this after using childs farm "baby" moisturiser. Childsfarm has made his eczema even worse (see photo #1) the 2nd and 3rd photos are day3 of using this Cetaphil. His eczema was weeping. I apply this to his skin as soon as I notice that his skin has gone dry again and especially if his skin began peeling. Just persevere! I find that its normal that the site gets red on application. But oh boy i noticed its efficacy since day1 especially on day2. Just apply it as many times as you want. Expensive but Highly recommended!

Lasting hydration
I am a big Cetaphil fan, so this moisturizer is top of my list. I don't use it every day, however when I have a flare up I need more than a regular moisturizing cream. Restoraderm is rich and creamy and gives lasting hydration and calming effects and is very healthy for your skin.
