Over priced, only handle rated power.
The tweeters actually sound pretty good, the 6.5" drivers on the other hand. I did everything you could to make the speakers sound good, the doors are sealed and sound deadened, the speakers have fast rings installed, the speakers are securely mounted, and they are powered with 340 watts rms each (through the supplies crossovers). The 6.5" drivers don't handle low frequencies very well, and they do not like a ton of power. My first speaker blew up unexpectedly at about 170 watts while I was still trying to break the speakers in. I then went to a car audio shop and bought a pair of old stock Memphis Audio PRX60C component speakers just to get me buy until I bought something better. I switched out the blown up 6.5" type x with the Memphis and carried on feeling out what I should do next (glad I didn't throw the rest of the Memphis speakers away). The Memphis 6.5" speaker is about on par with the type x at 1/5 the price (this is a shame). I then was beating on the system at about 255 watts and the Memphis took it like a champ, but the type x gave a short warning of smelling hot then blew up (my fault I didn't relate that the smell was the speaker until it was to late). The power is clean and has been checked no distortion or clipping. Its completely understandable that the speakers can't handle the power that I threw at them, but the fact that they sound of the quality that they do and they cost $500 is not understandable. You can buy better speakers for the price, or speakers of equal quality for much much less. I've heard of many people who say that the tweeters are nice, but they always end up upgrading to different drivers, I wanted to try for myself, and I now know what they are talking about.
