In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. Today, ASICS offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories dedicated to bringing harmony to the body and soul.

Perfect for racquetball and weightlifting
I wore the Rocket 7's for years and loved them for racquetball and weightlifting, but eventually they wore out. I bought these as a replacement. The shoe is a bit on the wide side, which is perfect for me as I have fairly wide feet. They provide great arch support for such a flat shoe. The thin sole is perfect for weightlifting, which is what I use them for mostly, but they also grip incredibly well for racquetball (or I suspect any sport played on a wooden court). I can't comment on the lateral grip on them compared to the Rocket 7's, because I wear ASO ankle braces when playing racquetball and they provide all the lateral support I need. I will say though that the wide nature of the sole seems to keep my feet planted better than most, which is why I originally chose this brand and type of shoe, to reduce the risk of ankle sprains.

Great Shoes!
I play competitively twice a week, and love these shoes! They fit as I expected, and so far, they have performed exceptionally. I stick when I need to cut and when i plant to attack. They are light enough that I don't feel like they are weighing me down. I had to change out the insole as I have high arches, but that is not the shoe's fault. I have only had them for 6 weeks, but I have noticed little wear on the sole, and at this pace, I expect them to last me a while. Even still, at this point, I will have no reservations about ordering another pair when this one wears out.

Great shoe for Indoor play and outdoor hard courts.
This may be 4th or 5th pair I have bought of the same type. I weight above normal, and heavy built(not obese). I play badminton and tennis actively and do wear these shoes on indoor court as well as outdoor. The gum rubber sole is soft enough to grip the wooded floor of a badminton court just right. And on tennis hard courts, it's durable enough to withstand the abrasion caused by the sudden stop-starts and turns.I have also used it for normal walking/running, but for distance running, I'd recommend using other shoes designed for the purpose.I'd also caution against using it on grass or clay surfaces.

Too soft
Good value for the price but gel rocket is a far superior shoe. This shoe was weak lateral support and too soft to support quick lateralMovement.

average pair of vball shoes, at a fair price
these are OK. i play indoor vball once a week, decided it was time to stop playing in bball shoes. ended up ordering a 10.5 since most running shoes i own (nikes generally) are that size, but this one seems half a size too large.. And wide. wish i'd gone with a 10 (that's the size i normally get for dress shoes), or maybe even a 9.5 to offset the additional width. not sure--will def be buying my next pair in person. unfortunately, wore them already to play and couldn't return. build quality seems fine and soles are sufficiently grippy. an average pair of shoes, but i'll tack on an extra star for value: these were cheaper than other similarly-reviewed alternatives (mizuno, other asics)

Shoooooos
Ahh, shoes. Who can say enough words to describe the sheer bliss and comfort of a pair of shoes. I put them on in the morning, I wear them all day, I go to bed in these new shoes till the wife says 'Take them off!' These shoes are like gloves, except they go on your feet, and gloves don't have laces. If I were a shoe maker I would quit and join a wandering band of bedouin sand-gypsies and declare my profession redundant, because there is nothing more to offer the world than this pair of perfectly crafted shoes. Shoes.

This is exactly what I was looking for!!!
I am using this for nearly 2 months for my squash sessions that lasts ~1 hour ~3 days a week. It is working perfectly so far. Fits perfectly and my game has improved significantly as I do not feel pain anymore in my legs after the games (that I used to get when I was wearing some other shoes).I use the shoe for squash only. I do not wear this for whole day or for any other sport, therefore can not comment how it fits when used for other purposes.

Get the job done come game time
These shoes aren't much to look at (in my opinion) but they are the epitome of support and comfort! I play in a city volleyball league and I put these through the trials during practice and our regular season. They held up great! I have a 40" vertical and weigh 190lbs, so they were subjected to a fair amount of strain and stress during games, but they never caused blisters or chafed me in the slightest! If they weren't so 90's colored, I'd wear them daily!
