Zildjian 16" K Constantinople Crash

It's a good story first then a sad story.I went to my local Guitar Center not really looking to buy a new cymbal, but I was bored so I grabbed a stick and went into the cymbal room. There was a guy in there playing semi-quietly on a small kit, and so I started hitting crashes on 1 with him. He smiled, so I kept going, and without looking what it was I ran into one of these about 7 into the process. I did a double-take at the cymbal, and he stopped and said, "That's magic right there." I bought it immediately.Now the sad story. A beginning drummer played really hard on my kit (without asking and without me there) and I came back to find, out of all my cymbals, this one was cracked. It was the best cymbal I had ever heard! I seriously almost cried. I had a friend who tried to braise it and repair it, but it only still was about 75% of what it was.The one I've just ordered is the replacement. I hope it's just as good - cymbals are all a little different of course, but here's hoping! Amazon has a way better price than what I paid for this last time, so it made it easy to pull the trigger on this one. I might have to carry it around with me when I'm not playing though. :)

I mostly play Jazz and was looking for a fast crash that complements my 22" Constantinople Low ride without getting in the way of it. The sound is dry and decays quickly, which allows me to punch out accents quickly without overpowering the wash on my ride. In short, this cymbal sounds awesome and is perfect for my needs. It would be a great addition for playing Jazz, light rock, funk, and blues.

I love this crash! I use it in my setup for Jazz combo gigs- Swing, latin styles. Keep in mind 3 of the exact same size and make of a cymbal will all be different. Mine is a very dark color, darker than my 16 inch K. Because of a slightly better definition my Constantinople rides better than my K . Good impact on crashes. Not as punch as my 16 medium. I have not used this with big band.

When i was 12, i had the great opportunity to play constantinople crash/ride. It truly was a beautiful experience to play with these. The logo is still the same but back then it was engraved in the cymbal. The crash was absolute projection. it sounded just like boston's first album. sib hashian played ziljians then, so i'm sure the old constantinoples shared same platform. Great to share that ziljian quality at a young age. Would play nothing else. Too bad it was later stolen. Someone got a bargin.
