For this I use a 5 gallon tank and a topfin filter, just put the bag of Clearmax where the charcoal filter goes. I use a little salt, and stress coat in the actual tank. I have never had a bad reaction, and my (adult) kids laugh about my tank full of invisible (not rare, just hard to find) fish. I am not aware of any phosphate remover that does not have an iron oxide component.If you issue is not your water source you might look to the food. I found that certain foods spiked the phosphorus levels, oddly enough, in my tank API foods that promised not to cause algae were the biggest problem. **Q: Fluval, the back of the box states it treats 300L. Is this for each 100g pack or does it mean a total of 3 packs?** A: I am pretty sure it's for each 100g pack.
