GREAT HEATER
I read many reviews before I made my mind up on this heater. I will say I am sold on FLUVAL, as I currently own 2, 306 filters, 2, Q2 air pumps, and lastly 1, E200 and one E300 heater. I could not make up my mind with the first E200 or go with a E300 for a 55, I have two, am happy with both so this is about both since nothing but capacity changes with them, functions are the same.I can say, I had the old school type heaters, which seemed ok but had a hard time setting my temps just right. You know the drill, set the dial and wait a day, turn it back some, turn it up some, what a waste. With this heater it is SET and FORGET.With the color changing display you know what it is doing, or more so if there is a temp change more than 1 degree, it lets you know. I do have thermometers, the strip kind, I know I should get the real ones, howerver as the Fluval gives a real time, real temp display I do not think I will, I have also and do still, since these are new to me, check with a laser temp meter, so far both are to with in half a degree of the setting,Yes they do need water flow to work, so if you have HOB filter they would need to be close to that, I use canister filters with spray bar, so no problem there. One BIG plus for me, in my thoughts is the gaurd that keeps my fishes from rubbing up against a hot tube and burning themselves. The side mount is also usefull, as I have it on one of my tanks, my fish like the corner I would like to put it in, best second location is to the front, and the agles attachment lets you veiw the display. All in all, Very good, accurate heater, great display, great warnings if temp changes. I am so far happy with this unit, Hope if you a thinking of getting one of these do not hold back, In my opinion they work very well and you will be glad you did.

So far so good... Very Satisfied...
I decided to purchase another heater for my 100 gallon tank... It is running 2 AquaClear 110 filters so there is constant water movement/circulation to the amount that my single heater(300W, I think... need to check) wasn't getting/keeping it quite warm enough... And I figured that it was probably working faily hard to keep it where it was, so my theory was that 2 heaters would run more efficiently, and ultimately also be more effective than the one without working very hard and putting alot of stress on the heaters... So far, I have been able to turn my original heater down considerably, and neither heater seems to be working too hard and the water temp stays at a constant 78 degrees... The cover on the heater keeps it nice and safe, the digital read out is very clear and easy to read and I didn't have any problem figuring out how to set the temperature...Overall, showed up timely, good, secure packaging, fair price, good quality heater... I would definitely purchase another one if necessary...***Update, Nov 7th...*** It's been 6+ months and the heater is still going strong... I still have it in my 100 gallon and actually, the other heater I was using with it seeming doesn't always work correctly. Sometimes it seems the thermostat part is not functioning and it keeps warning even after it reaches the desired temp or even when it is turned all the way down... So I took it out completely and the Fluval E300W still has no problem(that I can tell) keeping it warm enough by itself... So far so good now for about almost 3 months of working solo... I'd definitely recommend and would purchase again when necessary...

Works great in my 55 gallon Village. Easily raises temp and communicates well.
I have been using this product for about 4 months and it has worked great. I got this one compared to the E200 just because it was a buck or two more. I have a 55 gallon Texas Map Turtles / Guppy Kingdom / and some lucky large snails. The E300 says it's made for anything 100 gallon and under so it handles my task well. I have read other negative reviews about this heater from people using tanks over 100 and even 150 gallon and even installing it wrong....if you read and follow directions this will work for you. I like the casing it has around it so no animal or anything can get close to the heat tube. It had suction cups that attach directly to the heat casing and they suction really well. I have not had to move mine at all even though I have 4 ninja turtle climbing and jumping off of it hourly. So structure wise its made pretty well.As far as heating the tank it has met my needs. I know this from a couple things. I also use some old school suction cup mercury thermometers and they are in line with the correct temp readings. Also since I had hatchlings I wanted to raise my temp to 81 instead of the 77 it was staying at (I got it in december the cold months remember) it always kept it at 81 and now that the warm has come and there has been some really nice days I appreciate it even more because it flashes a differerent color and lets me know the tank is higher than the level I wanted it at. I set it for 81 but the sunny day made it a lil higher so it let me know. I clicked it down to 78 and it does the job still.I'm going to buy another one for my 75 gallon tank eventually. I will let you know how it performs for 75 gallons maybe at another time but for a 55 gallon it has worked perfect. It may work well for me because I have a tank 100 gallon and under. i positioned it under the water with just the temp. change click showing a little but you can put it deeper if you like (thats what sh....ahhh never mind) and I also put it in the path of my cannister filter flow out put. Heaters and filter work better with water flow not stagnant. This is what has worked well for me.I also might add I am using a cascade 1000 and two cascade 600's so I have constant water movement in the tank and on the heater. Like I said before water movement helps heating and filtration. For me....
