For some time now, my personal copy of Autobiography of a Modern Prophet has occupied a treasured spot on my bathroom reading shelf. I've read it cover to cover more than once and am in the middle of going through it again. When I first began studying Eckankar in early 1974, I knew I'd found the path I'd been seeking (or it had found me), but I had no idea of the lessons to come as I committed myself to serious spiritual unfoldment. And it's a good thing I didn't; the knowledge would have been crushing. Over the years and through the various experiences called Life, Harold's books have helped a great deal in that whatever I've had to go through...he's gone through worse...and come out the other side, his face firmly toward God. That realization, in part aided by this book and others, has helped give me the strength to go on any number of times during these past 42 years as an Eckist, and I'm just getting started. Additionally, the volume does a fine job of making it clear that the individual destined to become the Living Eck Master, the Mahanta, is not some "magical superhuman being" but a real Soul inhabiting a real flesh and blood body...he's just (to put it mildly) more self disciplined than most of us.If you want to understand the man behind the title, this is a book that cannot be beaten.

This isn extraordinary narrative of how a midwest US farmer boy learned spiritual mastery and became a modern prophet, a spiritual master dedicated to bringing the Light and Sound of God to all wh are brave enough to pursue it. As a north american male, he had to unlearn many cultural norms and dare to live according to God's will, knowing that his mind could easily fool him if the allowed it to.This book is excellent inspritation, and also serves for those that have no wish to be prophets on their road to spiritual mastery, understanding that those who serve God can choose to be in the spotlight as well as in the background. thank you, Sri Harold, Klemp for your words of wisdom.

Sri Harold Klemp paints a brilliant word picture of his path of self realization / God realization. Words can only point to the awesomeness of the universe, but reading his autobiography is a sign post encouraging you along the way. This book is valuable to Eckists and spiritual seekers of all types. Truth resonates and leads the way.

I liked the book. It is a good autobiography. This reflects the Hindu Concepts of Spirituality. It also reflects the Sikh concepts of Spirituality. Sikhism is also an off shoot of Hinduism.

Page by page you encounter an individual as real as yourself on the level of everyday living. One can relate to the author throughout the journey that identifies a spark of god within each of us and the blessings that challenges truly are in guiding our unfolding of spiritual consciousness. Brilliant!

Being a member of Eckankar I found this book so refreshing to see how Sri Harold Klemp transitioned into the Spiritual Leader of Eckankar.
