For the money very good speakers
I am not an audiophile by any means but I do enjoy good quality audio. I have 6 of these setup in a 5 channel surround system(one is a backup). They need a decent amount of power to sound good but except for sounding a little bright I have had no complaints with the sound quality. If you can get these on sale for 150-200 per pair I feel it would be an excellent choice. At retail full cost I would never consider these... much better options for that price. I only didn't give it 5 stars because how much power is needed for full sound(low power all highs and almost no bass) and overall sound being a little bright. I would buy these again without hesitation though.

DefTech 350 and 450ππππππππππππ
Running a Yamaha Advantage 1020 with an SVS PB1000 sub. Replacing a set of Bose 301 as fronts, and a set of Bose 201 as rears. Owned a set of 901s with dbx equalizers. So yes I am partial to Bose and they did have a great place in my life. Bought the Def tech 450s for $260,to use as fronts. Bought the Def Tech 350s for $160, to use as rears. Both sets new with fast shipping and excellent packaging. I already was using a Def Tech Procenter 1000 as my center. The Pro 1000 is more sensitive then the 301s, by a huge margain. Thus my interest in the350s and 450s. The Def Techs are hooked up and running fine. They are bright but pleasantly bright. Ran Yamaha Ypoa set up mic. Steve Winwoods Higher Love playing through DirecTV Pandora. Bass is full and complete with good roll off and no boom. Midrange is complete and full. Great separation and stereo separation, I prefer 2.1 over 5.1. The mids to the highs are tremendous. In 5.1 the 350s blend seamlessly and the pro center is just as grand. Marc Cohn, Walking in Memphis never sounded so good. Very pleasant straight out of the box with the ypao set up. Directvs Pandora is one of the cleanest are clear sources I have found short of an 1000 dollar player. What I m noticing is if it is or is not in the source music you either will or will not hear it. Also very pleasant to listen to at one level no up and down on the volume. Awesome buy and replacement. I have only had these 30 minutes and the Bose have lost their place in my life. I can feel some ear fatigue which the Bose never did, but I will work through it. There is no doubt the next blue ray I watch will sound even better. The room is 13 by 24 with vaulted up to flat 10ft ceiling, using the long walls as fry and back.. My best description is very full and complete, very subtle with a huge presence and some warmth. I am 52yrs old and it reminds me of the way music sounded in the 70s. With the SVS sub I can rattle the world, theses Def Techs make a subtle warm presence which I have missed for a long time! Do yourself a great favor and get theses before they are gone. Remember listening to vinyl and the track fades into a pause till the next track, these are it. Buy Them. Thanks AmazonPart 2, Approaching 12hrs with these and I cannot get enuff. Watched The Equalizer on blue ray, blew the Bose away, excellent for movies great surround and very precise, sounds are separate and begin and stop no mush or blended sound. The Yamaha has a pure direct mode which I never used with the Bose cuz they just did not sound good. The 450s with pure direct mode which is just direct amp from the Yamaha to them, no processing what so ever, and no sub, just 2 channel stereo. They love power and use it to make wonderful stereo sound. If you give these a lot of power the bass almost lets you get away with no sub. Remember I am using an SVS, now turned way down. These are so pleasant low listening is great. The separation of instruments is so clear, even at low levels notes fade away or strike you fast. I have learned that speaker manufacturers hide their faults with bass. Not Def Tech they are the real deal.

PHENOMENAL SPEAKER...DEF TECH 350's JUST AWESOME....
Ok, so, I started looking for just your cheap ole' ($100 max) surround setup to plug into my 52" in the Aux/Optical output for some better sound. I could see that I would not be happy with that....so I then looked into sound bars....they started to get into the $150 range for something 'OK'. I then realized that with having a Denon AVR-2800 and Paradigm Reference Studio 20's v.3 and Studio CC and a PW-2200 Sub (18 htz - OH Y.E.A.H.) that WTH!!! Why am I not setting this system back up? Especially since the lady asked why I haven't been...Well a good reason, my kiddo is now 3...so up until now I have better comfort that he know's not to touch things once told. Sorta..."look daddy music comes out of here.." Ok, now I have to get these up off the ground, off stands and on the wall. But, these Studios are a tad too big to put on the wall (weight not a problem, just the actual size). So, what would sound just a good, for as low of a cost as possible and OH, OH, OH..I found these. I know Def Tech's are a Audiophile quality speaker and at this price holy $&$*#!I'm not sure where the bad reviews come from as these cubes sing (except for damage or defectives ones). I'm in the 'Break In" period..like about 12 hours..and the highs and mids are equal to my 20's. BUT, with that added lower end that the 20's were lacking! Holy, I mean sure I have some more time to break them in, but I have these mounted with BT mounts (see my other review) and they are solid. The 20's shoot for the 47 htz range, these DEF TECH's shoot for hte 26 htz..and I know that I am already getting the mid 30 htz range and will def get the mid/high 20 htz once fully broken in. The imaging is awesome..the highs, mids..and the lows are delivered with clarity and smoothness. I love these..so much...that I jumped on a set of 450's. We live in a townhouse condo and hooking up a 12" 1200 watt sub in not a good idea but I still wanted some thump and these 350's will be more than perfect in not needing a sub...I just hope the neighbors don't mind...I might have to have them over to soften the blow. (Why did I pick up the 450's?..for when we move in to a larger place..and put he 350's in the rear. I did not want to pass up on either set as these are probably the best design Def Tech has ever made.) They look phenomenal and sound the same.Again, the negative reviews for a disappointing speaker are bogus in my mind, These are a phenom speaker for the size and price and sound that is produced. You'd have to spend min of $500 more just to get an even match and $700 to beat them. So, for $230 incl shipping, these are worth way more than my Studio 20's for sure.IF...a big IF, you can land these. Get them. These 350's and 450's NEW, are just about gone everywhere on the net....trust me..I was so lucky to get a set of each...for prices lower than $230 and $295.DEF TECH 350 - just plain AWESOME.......UPDATE: 2/19/15 Try playing "GDFR" from Flow Rida or "Latch" by Discussion/Sam Smith....love the range and shows how good these 350's can perform...(note-I'm using Tributaries Silver Series 14 AWG wire)

A small upgrade
First off I've been a tower man for many years. Gone through a few sets of Paradigm towers. Love the brand and would always consider buying them again in the future. But these little babies are truly amazing. I was tired of staring at my Paradigm 7se towers and wanted to open up my living room a bit.First the old towers had 2, 6-1/2 inch mid/bass driver and 1, 1 inch tweeter per cabinet. These little Def Tech speakers easily put out the same as the towers and then some! They have superior tweeters than the Paradigms so there is more clarity.Appearance, these little things look beautiful!Sound, does what most towers can do. But they do it with style and alot less space. To be fair there only a few days old, so there not even broken in yet. Also I know there an old model and are discontinued. So my advice? If your looking for a high end bookshelf at a bargain price? Then snatch these babies up before the old stock is gone! I promise you you wont find a better bargain!
