DOA, but replacement was easy and works beautifully
I got this product in place on my saw (a DeWalt 713 "type 2," the version in which DeWalt omitted the access panel that formerly allowed owners to install DeWalt's own laser or LED guide) with no problem at all. Like another reviewer, I was installing a new blade (a Freud LU91M010, which I LOVE) so adding the laser guide was a piece of cake. Except that it did not work. I tried installing new batteries, changing how I put it back together...nothing. I'll be returning it to Amazon for exchange, because fits fine and i know from another review that it can work with my saw. Hoping for better luck next time... EDITED TO ADD: returned to Amazon for replacement. Return was easy and quick, and the new laser guide is amazing. I can't believe it was only $10. It works beautifully, was incredibly easy to install, and is a huge upgrade to my saw. I am now a very satisfied customer. I am changing my rating from one to five stars.

I am completely impressed...
When I read the reviews for this item, I saw a number of folks who like it and many that do not. Without reviewing all the reviews, I just want to say the Infiniter RS-1 worked great for me. It took me a couple of minutes to remove the bolt that holds the saw blade on the arbor of Dewalt 708 Compound Sliding Miter saw. After loading the batteries in the cutting guide, I mounted it on the arbor in place of the OEM washer. Reinstalled the bolt and cover in less time and was ready to test. I drew a line on a piece of scrap and placed it on the saw approximately where I thought the cut would be. Unlike some, when turning on the saw, the laser light came on immediately and was able to shine right on the wood without my needing to move the saw more than an inch. The line was bright in my shop and easy to see. Moving the saw down, the blade intercepted the line perfectly! To be sure, I drew another line and placed the laser line right on it and made another cut. The pencil line was cut perfectly. Again, I can't speak for the results of others. For me, however, I recommend the RS-1 and would buy it again.

Works well, but too thick for some saws
The laser cutting guide works nicely to project a red line. It is a little weak in bright light, but still visible. It only gets 4 stars because it is so thick that it does not fit the sliding compound miter saw for which I purchased it. The safety shield is close enough to the blade that there is no room for this device. The only way it could fit would be to remove the safety shield, and that is not an acceptable option. I used it on my old circular saw instead. While it does not project exactly on the cutting line, it does give a visual indication parallel to the marked line, so I can see if I am cutting straight. The device appears to be sturdy and should hold up well. Installation of the batteries was easy as was installation on the circular saw. I think it will end up being a very useful device. I just wish it were thinner so I could use it on the saw for which I purchased it.

This is totally useless. The line is so dim that it is ...
This is totally useless. The line is so dim that it is not visible in my garage with the door open. I thought that the batteries that came with the device may be bad so I bought a new set of batteries but the line is still so dim that it is not useable. Unless you plan to cut your wood in the dark (I would advise against this), do yourself a favor and avoid this product.

Simple and effective
I added this to my 10" Hitachi miter saw in about 5 minutes. Nothing much to do - unscrew back, add included batteries, replace washer on the left of the blade with the RS-1. I've posted a picture of the unit when I first started it up. I purchased this on Amazon for $14.95, but it is listed under a slightly different description at $21 on Amazon. I think this may cause some confusion, since the specs are not stated for this particular listing ... anyway here they are: 1. This product is the Infiniter RS-1 (I've posted pictures of the unopened carton) 2. It fits 5/8" arbor with squared end and internal threading (most saws, particularly at the lower end like mine) 3. It is activated on/off by centrifugal force (turns on when the blade is spinning) 4. The insides are very simple -- a laser, 3 batteries, centrifugal switch, and small board (I've posted a picture of the inside of the unit) 5. When you take off the washer that came with your saw, tape it to your user manual; you will be less likely to lose it (picture added)

Ok for the $$$ - I'm buying two more
For the money, this works fine. I am buying two more because they are worth it for my uses. Installed on 10" Harbor Freight sliding chop saw and DeWalt Cordless DW939 circular saw. On the HF chop saw the laser is not as bright as I would like and not visible in direct sun light. The line is just slightly to the left of cut, about the width of the light but easy enough knowingly adjust for. It's not a high quality saw either, plenty good enough. Install easy. On the DeWalt the laser is easier to see (closer to the materials) and lines up to the actual cut line nicely. Install a little tricky because the arbor on the DeWalt is too small. Once centered and tightened it hasn't moved after a few hours of use, yet. Next two going on another chop saw and corded circular saw.

Infiniter Rs-1 Laser Cutting Guide
I have an older model Pro-Tech 10 inch compound miter saw, model 7207. I ordered the Rs-1 laser cutting guide for this saw and it fit as if it was custom designed for it. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, the installation was quick (taking less then 5 minutes), the laser beam is bright, and the cost with shipping was less than $15. The beam is extremely accurate. I purchased the guide to aid in the accurate cutting of over 80 feet of crown molding. I was able to cut pencil marks in half. I would highly recommend this product. A great buy at a great price.

Line not on the cut, did not fit my older Craftsman 7 1/4" (2 1/8 hp) circular saw
The laser line appears on the work piece (about) 1/16" to the right of the cut edge. This occurs on standard kerf carbide tipped saw blades and is more significant on thin kerf blades. Not the level of precision I had expected. The arbor on my saw had a flat only on one side, I filed a second flat to allow the laser to fit the arbor. The bolt hole in the laser was smaller than the threads on my bolt. I drilled the bolt hole in the laser to allow the bolt to pass through. I did not mind making the modifications but I am disappointed that the laser line appears "so far" from the actual cut line.
