Works with overdrive and borrowbox
I had kindle but this works with overdirve and borrowbox. Overdrive works perfectly as you can search and download inside it. For borrowbox you’ll need to install adobe on your laptop and connect Kobo and download and authorise the device etc. Still, it is great to have access to ebooks from your library!

So far so good
Bought this as a replacement of my old Kobo Fnac that was slow and stop working..This is lighter and super comfortable to holdSometimes it gets a bit slow but you can't compare that to the chance to upload any kind of documents just connecting to the computer..you can also link your device to the public library and get books directly on it.Love the built in light, was worried it was going to be hard to read but I was surprised to see it's much better than expected..I definitely recommend and will get another once this dies :)

Can borrow UK library books
I've had a basic kindle for years and never been able to borrow uk library books. Bought the Kobo Nia in Nov 23 for my daughter specifically so she would be able to. I'm writing this to explain how it works so other people won't waste time figuring it out like I did! This ereader has Overdrive built in which is the app used for borrowing books. However when you connect to your library on the Kobo, it doesn't let you borrow books directly. For that you must use a separate device (Kobo browser is pretty much unusable). Log into 'Libby' online with your library ID and then borrow books through that. Then back on your Kobo, using your same library ID to connect to Overdrive, you simply sync and the borrowed books in Libby should appear in My Books on the Kobo.I believe this is because Libby is the same as Overdrive or is the new name for it. Not exactly sure.I gather you can also use Borrowbox or other apps, but as they aren't built into Kobo, you have to download and authorise through Adobe Digital Editions which I couldn't get to work and just seemed like a faff.As for the device itself, it's pretty much the same as the cheaper end Kindles. Similar to those, there is a small amount of lag sometimes which is why I wouldn't give it 5 stars. But overall a good purchase and my daughter (10) loves it.

Kobo Nias are ace.
It is a good size, the touch screen works beautifully and does not reflect the sun. You can resize the print and store thousands of books on it. And the Kobo store has a massive choice in a number of languages. To make the battery last for a couple of months of daily reading you should keep the wi-fi turned off.Criticism- the on -off button is made of a cheese-like substance that is seriously losing out in the daily contact with my thumbnail and wearing down after only a couple of weeks.

Freezes constantly
A right pain in the bum, no matter what I did with advice from the help pages this Kobo freezes every few minutes, won't do anything until plugged in. One star for prompt delivery, the unit, non. Returned.

Perfect buy for book lovers
I’ve had a kobo for many years now and needed an upgrade. Hubby bought this as a gift and it’s so easy to set up! You can also buy vouchers from kobo to gift a loved one so they can buy books of their own choice online. It’s so easy to hold in bed, brilliant for travelling with too and the battery life is amazing

Battery life very low, and touchscreen misaligned
I got this so that I could easily access books on Libby, rather than messing around trying to get them on my Kindle Paperwhite. The Libby books part works great. You have to get the books from your library using the Overdrive website or Libby app on your phone, and then sync the Kobo, and the books (usually) load onto the Kobo.Occasionally, there are some books which don't load. I believe this is when the library has an edition of the book which is not available in the Kobo store. Fortunately this has only happened for one or two books I've tried, so it's slightly annoying, but no more than that.On mine, the touch-screen is slightly misaligned with the display, so you have to touch slightly to the left if using the keyboard or option buttons, but it's not a problem while reading. I can't find a screen calibration function to fix this. The biggest problem is that the battery life is awful. It lasts a day or two between recharging, where my Paperwhite lasts weeks. It feels as if the battery charge calibration is bad, because the battery charge level does not go up or down correctly, eg, it'll show 50% charge, then the next minute, it's totally flat. I can't find a way to recalibrate the battery charge level and it does not seem to do it automatically. I've done factory resets with no difference. It seems to be hard to contact any tech support, as if you ask for help, it just takes me to a knowledge base article telling me to factory reset...Not particularly happy with this device. I may have got a bad one, but still...
