Updated version of a book I have used before.
This is a good overview of material from the British Isles. I use this as a guide to looking at more recent work.

The Prehistory of the British Isles...
This substantial work from Cambridge University presents a prehistory of Britain and Ireland. Coverage extends from Neolithic times through the Iron Age just prior to the first Roman Invasion of Britain. A scholarly narrative examines a variety of remains in Britain and Ireland. These include the many standing stone monuments in Britain and Ireland, and a variety of possible fortifications and other communal centers. The book finds that Britain and Ireland share links with each other and with continental Europe, from the end of the last Ice Age.This is a challenging book for the general reader without background in the subject. The book updates an earlier edition in the ongoing study of the British Isles and does so in largely technical and non-speculative language. The book includes a limited number of photographs and diagrams of ancient sites.Recommended to the student of the archeology of the British Isles.
