Excellent player and OUTSTANDING customer service
I ordered this player primarily because it claimed to be able to play regular DVDs in addition to Blu-ray. When it arrived, I set it up on my main TV, which involved moving some heavy furniture, and turned it on to try it out. The disc tray would not open. I tried several times, without success. In the User Manual, there were instructions on how to get the tray to open, but that didn't work, either. I emailed the seller's customer service address, and said that, if the issue was not resolved within 24 hours, I was sending the unit back. I didn't hear anything, so, completely frustrated, I informed Amazon that I was sending it back. A couple of days later, I received an email from the seller, giving me a few more steps to try. I responded that I had returned the player, and had ordered a different one. They then responded, offering to send me a new unit, free of charge, to make up for all my trouble. I was skeptical, but agreed. Within a few days, a new player was delivered to my door. The first thing I did was to make sure that the disc tray would open, and it did. So, I went ahead and installed the unit on another TV, put a disc in, and it played. Well, the video played, the audio did not. This resulted in a flurry of emails between me and the seller. Looking through various settings within the software, I could not see anything that would prevent the audio from playing. I finally ordered a new HDMI cable, and tried it out. Bingo! Clearly, the cable that came with the player was defective. Everything now plays just fine, and I'm very satisfied with the player, and with a company that is obviously dedicated to the highest standards of customer service. If you order any of their products, and have a problem, they will do whatever it takes to make it right. Highly rercommend.

Plays everything!
It played every DVD, and BluRay Disc perfectly. Setup took a little study and practice because it has handy features I've never seen before. Most interesting and surprising, it played a movie that I had recorded on a pair of CDs, before video discs and players existed, but could be recorded and played on a computer! I bought this to preserve my 3D player, for playing my 3D collection. Some players have trouble with home made discs. This one has played every one I tried!

Full of features, but not perfect
This was purchased as a gift for me, at my request. I chose it because I wanted an HDMI region-free DVD player, and the blu-ray was a bonus. Here are my findings:1. A PAL/Region 2 DVD plays, but the picture quality isn't great. I can't be sure, but maybe this is because the movie is older, from the 60s, and probably wasn't a great transfer to disc in the first place. But, it PLAYS, which is better than just sitting on the shelf because it's not region 1 NTSC.2. A regular DVD plays, and the picture quality is good. I chose to test this particular disc because it is a US region but British show that doesn't have subtitles, only closed captions.I haven't been able to see CC using any RCA to HDMI converter. They DO work on my old DVD player with RCA hookups, but our newest TV is HDMI only. So, I can't test whether it's the player or just HDMI that doesn't work. I was hoping that a direct connection would solve the problem, but alas, no. On this player, the option for captions is actually grayed out, so I can't even test it. I really, really wanted this option because I have quite a few DVDs with CC only and no subtitles. I don't like to turn the volume up too high; it bothers me. The music and effects are always way out of proportion to voice, despite using voice enhancing settings.3. A Blu-ray disc looks and functions superbly, as expected.4. The remote control is too small, with tiny buttons. It's not really usable for me, so I'll have to look into what universal remotes might be compatible with this player. I purchased one with a ton of codes, but I had to contact the manufacturer to find the right one. Still waiting to hear back.--------UPDATE (see #2 above): I accidentally figured out how to view some of the CC on a disc. It's buried at the very bottom of the OSC (on-screen control) menu. The manual does mention this button, but not the specific options it includes. Maybe, if the remote's buttons weren't so small and oddly-placed, I'd have tried it sooner.
