This one tossed in a pocket rides well. In a leather slip, it's clean and ready. Good old fashioned carbon steel blades. Yellow synthetic scales. Sharp and well assembled. The Case of old has returned. Priced within reason for an American made knife. Can't wait to pull this out at a steak house and start slicing away! Not entirely sure. You could always call or write Case and they’d be more than happy to let you know. They have great customer service. **Q: Does this synthetic last or is it worth paying up a little for the other models?** A: The synthetic that Case uses is very durable, it certainly won’t crack if you drop like any bone type material would. I’d say if you use a knife hard, toss it around, prone to dropping it etc., then it’s probably the most practical handle material. It's a Case XX pocket knive made to use!! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good *by R***A on March 10, 2026* Perfect, great size. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent design and quality USA production *by T***S on June 12, 2016* Mine has superb "walk and talk" when opening/closing, perfect blade alignment, and arrived in a new, seemingly unopened box, tightly wrapped in paper inside, with the manufacture date of 12/16/15 clearly printed on the outside, and extremely sharp blades out-of-the-box, both of which are solidly seated with virtually no lateral wobble. The 1095 Chromium Vanadium steel is better than stainless steel without requiring extra care unless you expose it to water or other conditions that cause rust. The very pronounced half-step when opening and closing reassures me that I won't accidentally cut myself when closing the blades. Handle is 3 1/2 inches long, blades are about 2 1/2 inches long, both about 1/2 inch shorter than the regular Trapper, which is pretty big for a pocket knife, making this model more reasonable for EDC. The spey blade is the right tool for cutting food that is wrapped or inside a container and you don't want to puncture it with a sharp tip. The classic yellow Delrin handles reduce cost compared to bone and make this easy to spot if you drop it.
