Bought this for my bosses desk he loved it and everyone in the office loves to mess with it.

I don't normally write reviews but there are so many contradictory reviews on this one I almost didn't buy it. I am glad I listened to the good reviews. I really like the look of it and I do not find the lights to be too bright. The globe does float and spin if you give it a nudge but it does not spin on its own. I can be challenging to get it to float by placing it yourself but it is a piece of cake if you use the the tool they give you. I would definitely recommend this if you want something different than the standard globe on a base.

I have no trouble getting the globe to float. The light works well. However, I've had the globe for about 5 months, and I'm noticing a squeaking when the globe is floating. In a quiet room like my home office, it's kind of annoying. I think the upper magnet in the top of the frame must be working loose, or something. Either way, still works great, just a little squeaky now.

I was a little concerned after reading some of the negative reviews saying that the globe did not float, etc., however, that has not been the case for me. I actually found it very easy to float starting with the very first attempt. I used the spacing tool provided the first time but found I didn't even need it after that. If you want the globe to spin, you do have to spin it manually, but it keeps going for quite a while once it is spinning. You have to spin it gently because if you disturb the globe too much, it will stick to the top of the frame and stop floating. The same thing can happen if you jar the unit too much while the globe is floating. I will update this post if anything changes, but based on what I've seen so far, this is a great item.

Smaller than I realized, so small that if not nearer to eye level it's not obvious it's floating. Getting it to float is tricky, it comes with a "stick" to help you get the right distance from the top of the frame, even then it can be tedious. Once in place you have to leave it alone, you can't touch or move it, the slightest bump will cause it to snap to the top of the frame. The write up says "floating and rotating" and it's the rotating part that interested me - there is no rotation. If you touch it to rotate it just snaps to the top. No off/on switch, unless you want to leave it on all the time your only option is to unplug it. The plug to the electrical outlet has a very bright red LED, so bright that it lights up everything, I had to put a piece of tape over it, it is obnoxiously bright.

I bought this as a gift to my PI. He really liked it, and it decorates his office very well. Need some finesse in putting the ball and making it levitate, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes easy. It has been about a year since purchase and its still functioning well.

Purtroppo sono rimasto deluso da questo prodotto. Non viene specificato che la spina è di tipo G (standard britannico), quindi non compatibile con le prese italiane senza adattatore. Inoltre, non è presente alcun interruttore per spegnere il dispositivo: l’unico modo è staccare la spina. Un altro problema è che, se si prova a far ruotare il globo manualmente, tende ad attaccarsi facilmente alla parte superiore della struttura, compromettendo l’effetto di levitazione. L’unico aspetto positivo è la luce LED, che crea un’atmosfera piacevole sulla scrivania. Nel complesso, non lo consiglio se cercate un prodotto funzionale e ben progettato.
