Q: Is the mat itself a plastic texture (like vinyl) or soft fabric?

It’s a soft fabric with what feels like a cotton insert and in fact holds up really well in the washing machine! I’ve washed it a bunch and the colors don’t bleed and fabric stays soft.

I don’t think this is 1 inch thick. It’s pretty thin, but gets the job done.

Hello! Our recommended minimum age is 18 months. Additionally, the Standard 43 x 21 size is ideal for toddlers up to or just over 3 feet tall, while the Extra Long 53 x 21 nap mat is great for kids up to or just over 4 feet tall. We hope that helps you. Thank you.
