Excellent hitting mat…saves your lawn!
I bought an Amazon Basics driving net (which is great) about a year ago, and my lawn has been taking a bit of a battering since then, so time to invest in a hitting mat. I use plastic composite balls, and will mostly hit shots using tees, driver particularly. I have been using this mat for a couple of weeks, and probably hit around 100 shots to date .I found the Champkey mat of good construction, nice solid rubber base, thick turf, heavy enough and does not move when you play your shots. The tees that are included are no better or worse than my regular tees…i.e. they break every now and again! So I will likely get through the included 9 tees in reasonably short order, but not really an issue as you can just pop your regular tee into the hole. I use pink castle tees for my driver and you can see from my photos no issues at all. You can put a non castle tee through the tee hole and into the grass if you wish. The height of the mat is around 2.5cm, including the synthetic turf, so can sit a little above your feet, but for me not disconcertingly so, and in any case my lawn and my golf club’s tee boxes are not perfectly level either, so I find no material difference or issue. So early thoughts are that this a great buy, time will be the ultimate judge, and if I find any issues I will update my review…for now all good 😀

Good Quality Mat
Ive seen and read many varying reviews some good some bad but I would suggest not to make much of the bad ones Golf is a hard game and we are all of differing ability. Also its using the mat in the correct position realise the mat is Thick I would say probably around 2inch with your ball placed on the turf so whatever shot your attempting the ball is 2inch approximately above your feet which will (help draw the ball but also for beginners and high handicappers lead to chunking.) so for best results either raise your feet or sink the mat to the level of the surface you are hitting. Secondly place your ball in the centre of the mat not near the edges no mat will take much punishment around edges especially if you are chuncking it. Thirdly nothing that's glued will stand up too our unpredictable British weather. Ive used extremely hard over the last month or so outside in all weather and hit a good couple of thousand shots into my driving net using just a six and seven iron and it has stood up to that without a scratch very impressed I do how ever pick it up and throw it in the shed when finished practicing.I would suggest to the manufactures that they make a large one that you could hit any shot with any club and have your feet level with the turf. But apart from that Ive found it a good quality item.

Great practice tool
Using this in my kitchen with foam balls for a bit of practice. It works really well and seems like a good sturdy product.

High quality small golf mat
Really robust and durable. Holds relatively still on most shots into a net. For the money it’s the best option but doesn’t beat a larger range mat

Decent mat
Not the best for holding your ball on a slope and I had to re-glue the top on after it separated within about 8 weeks. It seems ok now but a bit annoying considering it is one of the more expensive ones around

Not fit for purpose
Purchased for my son to practise putting on the patio. Unfortunately it has absolutely zero non-slip so returned for refund. Each time he look a shot this mat moved so not fit for purpose.

A pocket practice mat
This is about as small as a mat can be while still being useful but that also means that it is easy to store and carry around. It is at least one inch thick and you have to take that into account, added to how much your feet sink into the ground compared to the mat floating on the grass. A long stroke risks hitting the edge of the mat with potential damage to your club. Adjusting as you would on the course solves the problem but doesn't give you a neutral swing as you would have on a range. The pile is short and quite hard which is useful for feedback and durability and the rubber backing grips well and doesn't seem to leave traces on floors. The hole will take any tee but some are provided in the package.
