PLATINUM Curidas PKN7000-50F Fountain Pen/F Fine/Retractable/Blue/Handmade/with Gift Box/Fountain Pen

Absolutely stunning pen in my opinion ,I’m an artist so I use all sorts of pens from pilots to chinese fountain pens and vintage Parker’s for me this pen is up there with the best it’s smooth well made even though it’s mostly plastic as soon as I had it in my hand I new it was the pen for me

After just three fills the pen no longer retracts fully and has become unusable. Normally I'm a fan of Platinum, the 3776 was one of my all time favourite pens - but this was a total waste of money. The fine nib was scratchy but okay. As a "jotter" I accepted that. But to break after very little usage is unacceptable. I was outside the 30 day return policy having ordered the pen on the just over two months ago but Amazon very kindly accepted the return. The fault is a double shame as my late mother gave me a little money as a gift and I had wanted to use this as an everyday writer to remember her. Avoid.

I ordered this fountain pen, as I had seen several reviews about it on YouTube and other websites. As I was looking for a easy, no-nonsense and functional travel companion (no long-winded cap unscrewing etc.), I went for this relatively new model from a trusted well-established brand. Over the years I got used to the fine nibs, even from the far-eastern manufacturers… Unfortunately the fine nib here does not provide a pleasant writing experience… it is unusually scratchy for a pilot nib (not sure who their current nib supplier is). I have been trying various paper/pen combinations and some seem to work a bit better, but this nib still does not provide a smooth writing style. On the positive side I can clearly say that the pen is well engineered as one would expect from a brand like Platinum. Luckily I paid just under £50 for this one and would have been seriously disappointed if I would have £60-75, the range they normally trade in… Curiosity just got the better of me!

La penna è di ottima fattura (tenendo conto del rapporto qualità\prezzo) il pennino Platinum è comunque eccezionale come sempre e la scrittura è fluida. Probabilmente delicato il meccanismo di retrazione del pennino.

Love this pen. I thought I wouldn’t given the funky design, but the moment I had it in my hand I was blown away. Click mechanism has a long travel is very satisfying to use. Nib is flawless, though a step finer than a typical German made pen. For those rare types who tend to hold the pen in a more cramped position at the very end of the section, the protrusion underneath will disturb you.
