As a longtime fan of the legendary writer Louis L’Amour I have read many of his books and short story collections; however, I have not read this collection (The collected short stories of Louis L’Amour, Volume 5: Frontier stories) which I had purchased on Amazon for a bargain price on Amazon.This 544 page paperback edition has 27 interesting and unique frontier short stories. I usually make it a habit to read a book of short stories from the first story to the last one in the order they are presented in the book; however, for this volume I skipped around the stories but still managed to read all of them.Some of the stories in this collection includes No man’s man, the nester and the Piute, desert death song, heritage of hate, big man, Rowdy rides to glory, the sixth shotgun, when a Texan takes over, big medicine, the cactus kid, love and the cactus kid, Gila crossing and many other western tales.If you are a fan of Louis L’Amour frontier stories you should check out this volume #5 collection.Rating: 5 Stars. Great short stories with realistic action by fist and 6 gun done against an accurately painted western geography. Note L'Mour was, among many things a pro boxer. He was an excellent western historian. My Dad was a working cowboy, top pistol shot (as am I ) and career Army officer of an old Texas pioneer family. Much of the events were likely occurring over many years across the west, and echo our family lore.

I have most of the stories in other books, but I can reread them over and over.

I intend to have every thing Mr L'Amour has ever written as he is my favourite Author, I not only loose my self in his writings, I can ride along with the people in the stories I am sorry when they come to each end, although I enjoy some other writers he is my favourite, as you well know. in my opinion there is no better writer of the history of American frontier times than Louis L'Amour, my thanks also go to his family for keeping his work continuing, I sincerely thank you for all your hard work.
