I believe in rotating our dog's food every few months for variety sake and balanced nutrition. It seems to keep them happy and excited about eating. I currently alternate between Wellness Core and Merrick Backcountry Raw. Both brands have an excellent reputation, so I feel good about the quality I am providing, and our dogs like both, but there appears to be a little more excitement when the Merrick bag opens. Maybe it is the raw nuggets, not sure, but they love it, so that is the main thing.I rated this 5 stars because, overall, it is an outstanding product and we have been very pleased. That doesn't mean there aren't a few things to be aware of before purchasing.First off, the raw nuggets are not dispersed well in the bag. You will find them grouped in areas, so it is best to stir the food up a little as you are scooping it out. It's easy and seems to ensure you get a few raw nuggets in most if not all feedings.Secondly, the food is expensive, and the largest bag is only 20lbs versus 24lbs to 30lbs of other brands. I am good with paying for quality, but if I had a wish, it would be nice to have a larger bag with better per-ounce savings.All in all, this is a great food that I would highly recommend to anyone.

My daughter recommended this dog food to me and my wife (her mom). It has no fillers or bad ingredients and my dog loves the freeze dried raw meat that it has in it. I would not feed my dog anything else.

This food has been great for my dog. He’s a golden retriever and from feeding him this food, his bowel movements and his coat have been great.

The fact that my demonic dingo/husky/hybrid is a picky eater and actually enjoys mealtimes now is a testament to the delicious flavor and quality ingredients in this product. I wholeheartedly recommend Merrick Backcountry Raw Infused Grain Free & with Healthy Grains Dry Dog Food to any pet parent, especially those with finicky eaters like mine. It's a winning combination of taste, nutrition, & quality that has earned a permanent spot in our household.However, I do wish they added extra bits of those those freeze dried treats into the formula.

My puppy loves this! Actually my two older dogs love it too, and they are constantly trying to sneak bites of food. I might have to buy the adult version as well.

I ordered this food based on a recommendation of a family member. After looking at the ingredients it certainly helped swallowing the cost per bag, but knowing I've giving my dog decent food is worth it.We've given him the food a few days for breakfest and lunch and gobbles the food up in no time. He would eat his other food before but he certainly didn't eat it this fast. Also I ingredients of his previous good weren't as good.

I’ve given Merrick healthy grains to my dog for a long time and he always loved it, but switched to the back country raw about a year ago just for a little change up.Contrary to a lot of other reviews I’ve read, there’s always several chunks of the freeze dried in every bag and the kibble is clearly coated in the crushed up pieces of the freeze dried raw.My dog is a 8 year olds and he’s still got all the energy he had as a puppy. His vet checks are good and his coat is beautiful. He goes NUTTTTS when it’s meal time for this and licks his bowl for several minutes after it’s gone
