These are 2 completely incompatible terms? The title incorrectly uses both terms to describe these curtains.** A: Room darkening, I can def see brightness when the sun comes up in the morning, and tiny pinholes of light at night (there is a street light near me, not super noticeable). Also, I'm thinking the lighter color curtains may let more brightness through, I bought the royal blue panels, and I'm quite happy with how dark my room is for sleeping, also note I do not have blinds or shades behind these panels, which may help to filter light out even more. Although they are not 100% blackout (from my perspective they are 75%) they block the majority of the light (in and out) and heat from the morning sunlight.
