However...I removed the wood and foam from the zippered bottom that comes with it and put the whole carrier and the bed cover in the washer, not a front load, washed it on delicate with normal detergent plus lysol sanitizer laundry additive and then dried it all on air dry. It smells like new and came out fully intact no damage. So I would recommend a puppy pad or something as a top layer for your pet to be on in case of accidents but yes you can wash the whole thing and dry on delicate. **Q: will this fit a cat that is 20 inches long?** A: Yes. Most cats can "compact" themselves, or curl up.
