I bought this lock for two reasons: 1) to keep my door shut when my cats try to break in, and 2) so I could lock my daughter’s room from either the inside or outside. It does work on our door to keep the cats out. It’s extremely sturdy and doesn’t seem like it’s going to break anytime soon. The installation wasn’t easy at all, but that’s because of the type of door I have and its current condition. For my daughter’s room, I wasn’t able to use it the way I wanted to—because I didn’t realize the lock part would have to be installed sideways to work on her door (my bad). The look is very minimal—you can hardly notice it—and since it’s silver, it matches the grey decor in our room. It also comes with two extra screws, just in case.

I read some reviews that said this product has sharp, unfinished edges. The seller obviously corrected that problem, the ones I received were not sharp in the slightest, you couldn’t cut yourself, even if you wanted to. Some people complained that the screws were too short. That all depends what you’re going to use it for! If you just need to keep the door closed against a small child or pet, the screws are plenty long enough. I added weatherstripping to a crawlspace door and it made it bulge out a little. One of these on each corner solved the problem. Stainless steel means these are perfect for outdoors and will not rust. I read a couple of reviews that wrongly described these as “cheap and flimsy” THEY ARE NOT CHEAP OR FLIMSY. They are well-made, well machined lighter duty stainless steel catches. They are not meant for use as a high security item. They are not meant to be used against someone trying to kick your door down. If you find the screws are too short or too long for your project, buy different screws. Don’t let that stop you from getting this good quality item. A very low price sometimes means lower quality. NOT THIS TIME. These are well-made, sturdy, good looking, rust proof latches - at a very good price.

I've used these on a chicken coop, and they work great. They feel high-quality and well-made. So easy to install, and the doors are indeed secured.

The latch doesnt slide out as far as I would need it to. So the “small piece” (Bracket?) pretty much needs to be right next to the latch. So it didn’t work for me. Doesn’t seem bad, so not a 1. Just a 3; average.

Work great and easy to install but if intended for house security use some real screws not the ones they provide

Bought these to stop my landlord from entering without notice (which he does frequently). The locks are good but note they're designed to be installed on flat casing (which ours isn't). So if your casing is not flat/flush with the door, you will need a piece of wood or other material to slip behind the back of the wall-side so that it doesn't bend/not align properly (I ended up using 2 wooden chopsticks, but something slightly thicker - but slightly less thick than a wood pencil - would work better).
