It boasts an impressive amount of features for its price and does deliver on those features. However like the other ones that gave a low score it does have an obnoxiously high noise ceiling which can ruin your audio if there isn't other noise around to mask it. I can recommend raising the gain and lowering the output level to mitigate it but even then you can just squeeze 7 db difference out of it. Also my unit had broken display LEDs. Not the biggest deal but whatever.. Considering sending this one back since the hiss noise really drives me nuts.

Small and compact it does precisely what I need. I have an XLR AT2020 for voice over work on video lectures and this allows for a great sound combination and a proffesional sounding end product. I am by no means a professional, I am just a hack trying to up his game and the Behringer Q502USB allows me to have a single point of interface for my MAC with a good MIC and Headphone combination. The equalizer is limited but it does allow for basic manipulation without being overwhelming to a neophyte like me. Don't listen to the either 1: trolls bad mouthing a product for no reason or , 2: people who are apparently not very mechanically inclined and can't figure it out or 3: just plain... well you get the idea. It works just fine with a condenser microphone requiring Phantom power. I might upgrade to an 802 as I may require a second mic and the 502 only allows for one XLR input but that by no means says this is not a great entry level mixer, I just missjudged what my requirements were. Out of the box it connected to my MAC mini and was recognized as a "USB Audio CODEC" and allows for both input and output. No additional cables were required to connect it to my MAC but you will require cables to connect your components to it. All jacks are 1/4 inch (save the XLR jack, but there is a 1/4 inch jack below it for that style of mic (line in or non condenser)) so you can use one or the other but not both. If you plan on multiple mic's (XLR) then look to the 802 or higher. Will I out grow this board? Maybe. Do I have a degree in engineering? No. Does it allow me to use higher end equipment without having an IQ that rivals Hawking or Einstein? You bet. Bottom line great product, solidly built, ease of use and not overly complicated. Very pleased I didn't listen to the people who said it wouldn't work with a condenser mic (at the very least it works with mine). Update: 6/9/16 Whoa! Time flies! I still have Zero complaints. It has held up extremely well despite being used as a portable mixer for many side projects without having had so much as a hiccup. I strongly recommend this to anyone looking for a simple interface that works. I have even used it for a Yamaha piano and it worked slick. I have had it set up multiple times outside for Halloween special effects, mic, music soundtrack, and lightning machine simultaneously flawlessly. All on top of its intended use. If you need a reliable small mixer without all kinds of needless bells and whistles at a reasonable price, look no further.

Summary Great little mixer. Packs lots of features into a very small package including XLR and phantom power. I have been very impressed with the hardware quality and the interaction with the downloaded free recording software (included for free at the time of purchase and claimed through the Behringer website) called Waveform 11 - OEM version). See further information below. Long Story I flopped about for several weeks to find a decent small sound mixer, asking buddies and surfing the 'interweb' until I stumbled upon this gem of a mini-mixer. It connects to your PC through a USB cable (provided) and the port configuration (with Waveform 11) is achieved through a sub-software package called "Asio4all" which automatically starts when Waveform 11 starts up. Note that I didnt know of the free recording software until I stumbled across it while sniffing around looking for free recording software (e.g. freeware). Material Quality - 5 stars! The ports and buttons / switches all feel sturdy and secure. The adjustment of the buttons is silent and there is absolutely no noise contribution from the mixer - despite it connecting through a USB cable. Aux in and out options It has Aux in and out connections available but I tend to prefer using the 6.35mm jacks or the XLR input, where you have a compatible device. I found the 'aux in' a little noisy in comparison, but then this may just be a factor of cable or aux device quality. Headphone Monitoring There are two push-button switches that allow you to route the audio back though your headphones and / or the main output (6.35mm jacks or back into the USB out to your PC). Be aware that backing tracks will appear on your main output if you have selected 'Main' inadvertently so make sure you only select output to headphones. Phantom Power This function works well, but don't expect huge gain with this function as I have found it offers only a little boost to the mic signal of around a couple of dBs or so. Variety of Equipment connected I have tried a good quality (Shure) XLR mic, cheapish Yam keyboard and a couple of different guitar and bass amps (the latter with XLR). All of the above sounded excellent with very little background noise seen at the PC software level. I have also connected cheaper mics too and still the little Behringer performed immaculately.
