Easier and cheaper than store bought
I have had this distiller for about a month now. My house has well water that is very hard. In the past I just used tap water in my humidifiers, that caused awful build up. Then I started buying distilled water by the gallon; that was expensive. Now I pretty much make distilled water all day. The Distiller works as advertised and now my humidifiers are clean with no build up. I learned to wipe down the distiller between each batch. I also use the citric cleaner every few batches and it still looks new. I saw other reviewers talk about the heat, but I haven’t really noticed it. Maybe because it’s winter and the heat helps? I also like that the machine turns itself off automatically when the batch is completed. I not only would recommend this machine, I would buy another one if I needed it.

Great product, very sturdy!
Day 2 and everything is working great. A lot more sturdy than I thought. Really excellent product for the price. The glass pitcher is a great thing to keep the water from touching plastic. Water is very pure. Really happy! A+

Gets the job done—cleaning tips, complaints, comments
I bought this so I wouldn’t have to buy, lug, and store gallons upon gallons of distilled water in my apartment to run the humidifier I use to keep my guitar from drying out and cracking in thecwinter air. This distiller works like a charm, so 4 stars. 1 star off because I do have a list of complaints: - I have very hard city water. The amount of junk left over in the metal tub after a cycle is shocking. It bakes on (stinks!) and is impossible to wipe off. Better than spewing it all into the air via humidifier though. - The cleaning process is both easier and harder than it looks. It ships with a bottle of citric acid crystals. Go ahead and order yourself a bulk 2 pound bag or two of those things, you’ll need them. Throw 3 or 4 tablespoons of crystals into a fully filled distiller tub, and run a cycle with the top off. The scale will disappear in about 30-40 minutes, no muss no fuss. I like to poke at the scale now and again with a spatula while this is going on, but I’m a neurotic overachiever. It is NOT clear or easy how (or whether?) to clean the top part with the coils and fan. Do these need to be unscrewed, taken apart, cleaned, reassembled? Who knows?? - This thing uses a lot of electricity and puts out a lot of heat. I ran it about 15 times and my power bill jumped $9 for the month (from $50 to $59, so it was noticeable). That could be because winter and price increase, or distiller use. Can’t tell yet. It does release a LOT of heat. I run it in my bathroom and it makes the room into a sauna. Great for winter! Toasty tile floor! That’s not great energy efficiency though. - It’s loud! I run it in the bathroom so I can close the door. If I ran it in my apt kitchen I would not be able to hear anything else, it’s about as loud as the over-stove fan set on low. - If you have long hair and run this thing on the floor, FOR THE LOVE OF CTHULU hold your hair back when you turn this thing on. The fan on top WANTS to grab your hair. You will cry. Over all, this thing does the job and even with my list of complaints and increase in electricity bill, it’s nice having distilled water on demand instead of having to go to the store and put more plastic jugs in the recycle bin where they probably won’t be recycled anyway. And even with that $9 jump in power bill, for at least 15 gallons worth of water it’s half the price of store bought.

Easy to use and clean; works very well
Not too loud, and easy to descale. I used its distilled water to feed my humidifiers in my guitar room, and the results have been good. I do descale it after every use. It produces heat, a welcome winter by-product, and I won't be using it or the humidifiers in the summer.

Works great — I run about 3 gallons a day - big money saver
This is the second water distiller I’ve owned and it’s been working great. I use it heavily—typically distilling around 3 gallons per day—and it’s been reliable and consistent. Solid machine if you need a lot of distilled water regularly. It is a huge money saver from buying from the store. I use for cpap, humidifiers, steam iron, etc.

Do not recommend.
Just run my first time and ended up with 7ppm. No biggie. Then I did a second round and ended up with 6ppm. I expected way better. The handle is week and it does not feel secure to grab the container by it. I can see this giving out and breaking fairly soon. Glass container very solid, so to have such a week handle and its tightened all the way. Another thing that I find very negative is that you have to take the whole unit to dump out any water that is in there or when you clean. So now you are risking possible water drops getting in where the plugs are. I checked the manual and you can not take out the inner tank. I will give this a few more tries and if it actually goes to where it should be I will update. Not really hopeful right now. I need good and clean distilled water or its not usable for any of my uses. PS. Did 8 runs now and the lowest it goes down to is 4 ppm, wasting my water and electricity. It is going back and this is what it says when I chose to get my money back. Estimated refund timing: Refund is issued within 30 days after we receive the item. Can greatly improve taste of hard tap water
About five years ago we moved to an area with very hard water (>400 ppm TDS). For the first time in my life I was buying gallons of spring water a week. I find now that I can make tap water quite palatable by diluting it with distilled. The still works very well. The only criticism I have is that it shuts off when the temperature gets over 300 degrees, which is when it runs dry. This is probably a lot simpler and safer than a low level detector. However it does bake scale onto the bottom. I'm getting a cheap timer rated for high wattage and will make it shut off when there is still some water left.

So good
Works great. We have 4 humidifiers going in our house and needed to stop buying water. It works perfectly. It takes 4 hours to make 4 liters (Just over 1 gallon) It does put off a lot of heat but not a bad thing in the winter. The fan makes noise. You can certainly hear it even with a door close but it's not overly loud. It only has to be cleaned and filter changed every 2 months.
