What a tangled web we weave
Deception (Infidelity #3) by Aleatha Romig4.5 stars!!!“She filled me with a promise of something that I’d forgotten existed – a promise of more, of love, laughter and life.”Aleatha Romig continues to weave this web of suspense, lies and intrigue all the while continuing a beautiful love story between the two main characters Nox and Alex/Charli. It seems that as the rich get richer the lengths to which they will go to protect what they deem to be theirs just gets more and more sinister. Just when you think you have it all mastered Aleatha Romig inserts some key dialogue or a flashback and what you thought you knew is just gone in a puff of smoke. You need to be on your toes reading this book, you need to concentrate and really take in everything that Aleatha Romig slowly but cleverly divulges. Who is good? Who is bad? What are their motives? Is everyone who or what they seem?“In a seedy motel in Georgia, the world stopped spinning and lightning exploded.”Told in multiple POV’s with flashbacks to past and present Aleatha Romig slowly unveils more key points all the while keeping you firmly on the edge of your seat. From mafia connections, to family, to underhand lawyers, to disloyal friendships Aleatha Romig will have you second guessing everything and everyone as she expertly lures you into her spider’s web of unscrupulous, underhand and decidedly dodgy business men who marry for connections and business contracts that should have been sunk along with the Titanic.“…I know you have secrets too. I know you have shadows, but in your shadows, mine feel less threatening. For the first time, I feel free to talk about things that I’ve always kept quiet.”On the flip side though, Nox and Charli are becoming a lot more open with one and other, more trusting and their flourishing romance is the light to the dark of the rest of this book. Nox is in full blown protective mode and sometimes omission is just as good as a lie. Charli is stronger than he thinks and sometimes what Nox perceives as “protection” Charli sees as lack of trust and lies. However, these two are learning and growing together and with both of them opening up we understand Nox a lot better and also to some degree Charli. Hopefully these two will learn from their mistakes and become a well-oiled cohesive unit that will work as one. Together these two are formidable and are perfect for each other and I am desperately clinging to the hope that no matter what is chucked at them they will have the strength and belief in one and other to muddy through.“No, princess, you haven’t seen my cape, but you’ve seen under the mask. You do realize that makes you part of a very elite group.”With outside interferences and a world gone mad, these two have mountains to climb and a lot of dirt to unearth. Who is behind it all? Is it what and who you think? Knowing Aleatha Romig through her past books I have come to expect the unexpected, it is never what or who you think and I found myself desperately trying to put myself in Aleatha Romig’s mind…a task I found pointless. Once again, I found myself Aleatha’d and I cannot wait to see where their story is going. Being book three of a five book series, there is still some serious meat left in this story and really…anything can happen and it probably will.“…Alex started living when she went out west. Unfortunately, what she was doing before – living or merely surviving – is trying to suck her back into its black-hole abyss.”The Montague’s are a crazy bunch and with wills and codicils and contracts and a mountain of wealth and control at stake I would put nothing past them…something that Aleatha Romig really brought to the forefront in this instalment. With the Demetri’s and Montague’s paths already having crossed in the past…how will they intersect in the present and future. So many things still to learn, so many conspiracy theories and I now have a head full of potential outcomes. Guess I will just have to wait for Entrapment in September, it cannot come soon enough.“Some children are afraid of the boogeyman. I didn’t wonder if he was a myth. I knew he lived down the hall.”

6 star review! Entertaining, steamy, full of "aha!" moments - a story that will really make you think!
Aleatha Romig is one of the best at writing romantic suspense, mystery and thrillers. She took the Indie world by storm with her Consequences series, and now, she’s doing it again. In my opinion, her Infidelity series is her best writing yet, and I can’t express enough how much I LOVE it! Please don’t judge this series by its name: "The Infidelity series does not advocate or glorify cheating. This series is about the inner struggle of compromising your beliefs for your heart. It is about cheating on yourself, not someone else."Using a metaphor, I’ve come to compare the reading of the Infidelity series to the act of peeling of an onion. Everyone knows onions are made up of several layers. Betrayal, the first novel of this series, only skims the surface of the onion. Readers are introduced to Lennox Demetri and Alexandria Charles Montague Collins as they spend a week in Del Mar – a chance meeting where they experience an instant connection. In Betrayal, Romig makes it so easy to fall in love with these characters.Romig breaks the surface of the story in Cunning – she begins to peel back the outer layers of the onion. Nox and Charli are reunited, and we begin to suspect there’s a whole lot more to this story than two people randomly meeting in Del Mar. We are given more background information about several key players. Overall, the Infidelity series begins to feel more like a mystery.Deception, the third book of the Infidelity series, picks right up where Cunning ended, and it’s full of drama from the start! Deception is where we really start getting into the meat of this story. Nox and Charli’s past and present begin to collide in Deception, and you begin to wonder just who, or how many, might be pulling the strings. Did their meeting in Del Mar really happen by chance? With each chapter of Deception, we are given new possibilities to consider. Infidelity is a series that WILL make you think. Every detail of Romig’s story has been written with purpose. Layers of truth are continually uncovered in the dialogue. Clues are hidden in the text. Even characters introduce their own theories! All of these things had me questioning what I thought I already knew. One thing is certain: the novels of the Infidelity series will challenge you to get to the bottom of things.More often than not, spoilers are not much fun to read. Because of the nature of the Infidelity series, I’m not going to go into much detail about what Aleatha Romig reveals in Deception. Generally speaking, Romig delves into the backgrounds of the Demetri and Montague families in this novel. I found the background of the Demetri family particularly fascinating. You should expect several “aha!” moments when you read Deception. In true Romig fashion, you’ll begin to see connections form between characters and in the plot. Are these connections merely coincidence, or is something more sinister taking place?I was able to note real character growth in Nox and Charli. Because of their backgrounds, trust is a very important issue to both of these characters. Their relationship evolves in Deception. They both seem to be growing as individuals – opening up about their pasts, learning to trust one another and extend love freely. Mixed in with background information and plot reveals, you should expect romantic and steamy moments between our main characters.I can’t give anything less than 6 stars for this novel. For entertainment value alone, Deception earns a 6-star rating, but Aleatha Romig’s writing is crisp, creative, and the story flows incredibly well. Look out for the KILLER cliffhanger of this 2016 favorite!

Amazing! Questions still need answers...
Well as is usual with a book by Aleatha I never really know how to put what I thought about it into words because there's so much to take in and as usual leaves you asking yourself lots of questions that haven't been answered lol But I will say..as is usual too, the book was amazing! It had me completely hooked into the characters' lives, the twists and turns that Aleatha takes you through had me questioning everything and everyone and as usual her writing was faultless!I can't really say too much because firstly I don't want to give any spoilers and secondly there are too many questions I have about it all that need answering and knowing Aleatha that won't happen til book 5! lolI will say that if you're following this series you will not be disappointed with this book. It changed my view on a couple of characters and has made my hatred for others grow a lot more..especially Alton and Bryce! I love that Nox and Charli have each other and are opening up to each other more...I just get the feeling that their road ahead will be rocky due to certain people but hope they can face whatever it is together and be with each other like they deserve! This book in my opinion is worth more than 5*!! Highly recommend it! Thank you Aleatha for another great read!

Love the angst, the secrets... a truly amazing series so far
Once again Aleatha spins an enigmatic tale of secrets, lies an manipulation In the third instalment of this series. As we learn more of the history of the two families and see how their paths have crossed previously. If you are reading this review then you will know what I'm saying. This book takes suspense to a new height. Aleatha is queen of angst, mystery and filling a book with characters you just want to hate as much as champion. I just fell in love with the characters of Charli / Alex & Nox... he is my new BFF. So alpha, dominant and controlling. Charli has a sassy mouth and sharp wit. Together they make a formidable team. The book finishes in a cliff hanger and I'm so glad I waited until they were all out until I read them!!

I am growing more and more to like th Nox character
Absolutely enthralling. I am growing more and more to like th Nox character. Charlie is one lucky girl, if only she could get over her step family. Yet again an absorbing story, that is difficult to second guess. Each chapter sheds a different light on an emerging topic. Loyalty. Oren is becoming a cheat acted miss understood, and Adaleine a sad soul who has always been a pawn. Alton is despicable, which has always been the way, and Bryce is like his father. So many twist turns, flash backs, intregue, murder and romance. I defy anyone not to enjoy this series. Yet again Aleatha outshines as a wonderful author, with an incredible mind and imagination. So believable, and so compulsive. A long wait to Entrapment, but I know it will be worth it.

This is getting more complex.....
The further along the series I have got the more complex the story and what is going on, it seems one power mad man who things he is God wants something and is doing something but what.... Alex seems to be stuck in the end with a choice yet to be revealed, what has been happening to her mother and how has it happened? I don't really enjoy stories that go back and forth in time, I am ok with a reminiscing scene but full chapters of 10, 15 or 20 years ago annoy me. Despite this I have enjoyed this book and all others so far, now I just need to read the next two books, I can not wait but have to as they are not out yet....Recommended book Definitely.

It's good but some parts are too long winded.
Started reading and I got hooked. Had never read anything by this author until I started to read this series. I love the story between Alex and Nox but the only problem I have is the history, yes it is nice to get a background on how things happened to add more depth to the story but do they have to go on and on. If I wasn't hooked on this book I would seriously consider not finishing it off as quite frankly I'm getting a little fed up.
