Finally something keeps the bigger birds out!
I bought this because of its rounded size. It stated the openings were a bit bigger than they actually are, they are 1 3/4” by 1 3/4”, but the little birds can get in and out very easily. The solid bottom tray keeps the seed from falling out, and the birds eat from there too, as well as from the feeding perches.Overall really like the feeder

Very sturdy and well built
This is one of the better bird feeders I have purchased this season. Most have been flimsy and seemed cheap. This feeder is sturdy and seems to be well built. Hopefully the birds will like it too.

No starlings!
This is such a fantastic feeder. We hung it in front of our living room window, I could watch the chickadees and sparrows all day. Our previous feeders were dive bombed by crows and starlings, with this one they haven’t even tried. I love it!

Great for keeping Blue Jays out
I bought this feeder to give the smaller birds (chickadees, goldfinches, sparrows) an opportunity to feed. They were being denied access to other feeders by a large flock (~16) of blue jays. It works great for that! My woodpeckers can still access the seed using their long tongues which is fun to watch but the blue jays ignore this feeder. I have red squirrels, not gray squirrels, and one of the smaller reds can get through the wire mess but it largely leaves it alone in favor of other feeders on site. This one works MUCH better than a similar cage feeder I have that is tube shaped. The blue jays can fit their heads and bills into that one. Very happy with this feeder. It is small capacity so needs frequent (2x a week) filling. It is also difficult to clean the tube but not impossible.

Actually squirrel proof
I finally invested in squirrel proof bird feeders and I have tube ones that close on themselves when there’s weight put on them, but this one totally locks the squirrels out. They can still reach my tube ones simply because I can’t hang them further from the tree on a branch. This one is up close to the tree and I’ve seen squirrels drape themselves on it trying to get seeds but they can’t! And I like that the holes in the grate are small so they can’t get in. I’ve worried about squirrels getting inside since I’ve seen that on similar styled feeders.I notice all the small birds go in. At first they weren’t sure how to use it but when my other feeders ran out of seed they finally gave it a shot and learned how to go in. I see finches, chickadees, Juncos and titmice go in often.I do notice a tiny area on the cover becoming rusty but that is a very easy fix with rust oleum. It hasn’t really progressed anyway.

So squirrel proof birds hate it too
Good news, the squirrels won't touch it. Bad news, most birds avoid it too. We bought a different feeder to complement this one.

Perfect Feeder
This is exactly what I needed for outside. This allows the little birds to eat in peace and keeps out the big birds that eat me out of house and home like the dove, etc..

Waste of money
This is not great for Finch food. The holes are very large and the food falls out all over the bottom of the cage. Also, I put this out in May and it's now Sept and it's rusted and peeling. Definitely not weather proof! Don't waste your money!
