LARA CROFT (Jolie) is back in action and faces her most perilous mission: to recover what ancient civilisation believed to be the essence of all evil, Pandora’s Box. She must travel the globe, from Greece to Hong Kong to Kenya and beyond, to get to the box before it’s found by a maniacal scientist (Ciaran Hinds) whose plan is to use it for mass annihilation. For this adventure, Lara recruits her ex-lover – Terry Sheridan (Gerard Butler) – a dangerous mercenary who has previously betrayed Lara and their country. She knows he’s the best for the mission, but can she trust him again? Join her as she races through furious hand-to hand battles, blazing shoot outs and breath-taking sky-diving escapes to try to save the ancient artifact… and mankind’s future. Too much fun for words
First of all, Lawrence Bernarbo's review is excellent and nearly the last word on the film. Given that, here's a bit more. First, thanks very much for Jan de Bont for getting the Lara Croft idea back on track after Simon West's disastrous creation of the first Lara Croft, which was so bad that one critic referred to it as the first "post-content" movie. In fact, in one of those delicious "living well is the best revenge" moments, Jan de Bont (Speed, Twister) brought back Steven de Souza to write the story. In creating the first Tomb Raider, West had rejected all three of de Souza's drafts. So, Paramount, can we please keep Steven de Souza now? So what, exactly, is so much fun about a movie based on a video game? Well, first of all, of course, there's Jolie herself, who has created a truly great, mythic character. Okay, I admit, the mere words "female archeologist" would have hooked me to begin with, but when you turn the female archeologist into Wonder Woman, well, I'm just doomed to hopeless addiction. Second, it really is a very nice script, that obeys the most important rules of drama. There's a famous rule in drama that if there's a shotgun over the hearth in the first act, it must be fired by the end of the third. In this case, the shotgun is Lara's absolute certainty that "Anything lost is meant to be found." She is to discover, after much hardship and no small loss of life on all sides, that "Some things are not meant to be found." What she must do to make sure that some lost things are not found is what drives the deeper, more personal struggle. As just about everyone has noted, Jolie was clearly born for this role. It can't be easy breathing life into a cartoon character, but she actually transcends the cartoonish aspects of Lara Croft and creates a living, breathing, slightly conflicted heroine. It helps that, unlike the Bond or Indiana Jones movies, we actually see the character practicing her skills. After all, don't you secretly wonder how Bond or Jones find the time to stay in shape? It's nice to see the hard work that goes into the famous fighting skills. In fact, in another gratifying moment, the mock battle with staffs at home is repeated for real in her battle with one of the lesser villains. Just one more shotgun over the fireplace. Finally, Cradle of Life is just an amazingly pretty film, and that is partly what distinguishes it from its rivals. The sheer, ballet-like choreography of the stunts, from the famous dive off the skyscraper to sliding down the ropes upside down is so beautiful it leaves you with a wonderful feeling of, well, rightness. And it may be this consummate grace that gives the film its deeply feminine appeal. Lara Croft doesn't just fight on equal terms with men; she does so with a profoundly female grace of movement, which answers the question: "What does it mean to be a female action hero?" In this sense, Lara is more like Sarah Michelle Geller's Buffy than like the women of The Long Kiss Goodnight or the Kill Bill series. In the end, the director, writers, cast and crew have created a truly satisfying action romp that sets new standards for female characters. They deserve our thanks for saving the Lara Croft myth from post-content hell. Thank you all.

Not out yet, but......I CAN'T WAIT!
Well, let me start out by saying, Tomb Raider: The cradle of life, and anything else TR is great... the movie is,,,,well.... It's fun, funny, chilling, etc. There is alot of : Action, such as jumping from a 100 foot building, horror even!, such as the shadow guardians, adventure, such as the tomb of Alexander the great, etc... Angelina Jolie plays her role terrfic! She is a PERFECT Lara croft. This movie is nothing like the first. Yes, I liked the first, but it kinda bored me! And I'm a HUGE fan of Tomb Raider. This movie is longer and much more exciting. This movie gets 5 stars for it's great casting, chilling and heroic scenes, and Lara croft/Angelina Jolie. If you are a fan of Tomb Raider, or just looking for a great DVD, buy Lara Croft, Tomb Raider: The cradle of life......

Lara Croft is on a perilous mission to recover what ancient civilizations believed to be the essence of all evil - Pandora’s Box. This movie has everything- action, suspense, breathtaking scenery while globetrotting around the world, gunfire, hand to hand combat, recruiting her ex-lover Terry Sheridan- a dangerous mercenary, amazing sky-diving escapes, mysterious creatures, blazing shoot-outs all the while trying to stay ahead of a maniacal scientist Dr. Johnathon Reiss, who plans on using it for mass annihilation. Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle Of Life is a fabulous and amazing movie that must be watched 🙏🤗👍🥰🎥

This film remains perhaps among my favourite 'Fun-Packed-Action' adventures, now available on the 4K format, so glad I invested in it, the picture quality is sharp, vibrant, and frankly stunning, was like in many ways watching the film for the first time and yet, on Blu-ray I have indeed watched the movie a few times certainly. Of course, having Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft to watch is a bonus. The film starts at a pace, as, after an earthquake, a temple built by Alexander the Great becomes accessible after many years cut off by the sea On Santorini island, Greece. Lara and her team investigate the 'Luna Temple' finding it to house many treasures including a glowing orb which it is reputed unlocks the whereabouts of the legendary some believe mythical ' Pandora's Box' However, the orb is snatched from Lara's grasp by a group that has followed her and her team to the location, her team and several of the following group die, Lara escapes. Lara insists on having former friend and perhaps lover Terry Sheridan (Gerard Butler) released from imprisonment to help her track down the orb. She'll never entirely trust him but he will prove a useful ally, however, there is competition in the search for the orb and the secrets it holds Jonathan Reiss (Ciarán Hinds ) a ruthless criminal with the misuse of 'Pandora's Box' and its power if discovered. Reiss manages to get hold of the orb and gets pretty close to unlocking its secrets, however, Lara and Terry are close by. With the help of friend and associate Bryce (Noah Taylor) a high-tech computer whiz Lara learns of the location of the legendary cradle of life where the box is. She heads to Kilimanjaro without Terry who she felt should have killed Reiss when he clearly had the opportunity to do and with help persuades the tribesmen guarding the sacred site to show her the way. However, Reiss and his henchmen are not far behind, fortunately neither is Terry who has been able to discover where Lara had gone. With legendary creatures guarding the way, Lara accompanied by Reiss finds her way into the maze which is the cradle of life and where the box has laid safe for many a century. Lara knows the box must not fall into Reiss's hands and should never be opened, however, Reiss has other ideas, fortunately for Lara, Terry has also found his way into the complex but, after helping her will show his true intent. Will Lara escape the complex and leave Pandora's Box where it belongs? A superb action-packed adventure, certainly worth another viewing especially i
