Don't bother until 4.44
Somehow this movie contains a lot and nothing at all at the same time. I don't want to spoil it, so all I'll really say is that I genuinely wouldn't bother watching this until right before you watch 4.44 (whenever that finally gets finished) because this movie is incredibly unsatisfying and feels like it almost just ends exactly where it started. It really seems like no progress is made. I also hope you like Shinji cause he's somehow even more insufferable in this movie than in literally any other Eva movie or show. He whines 10x as much and just continues to screw up everything again (while constantly pushing the blame for everything on everyone else).

What a mess
In the original series, Evangelion was a subversive character study that just happened to have giant fighting robots. People who'd experienced depression were often fond of it-- other viewers were left confused (particularly by the ending). And now? Good luck finding comprehensible motivations, themes, plot, or a semblance of cohesion with previous efforts.

Worth waiting!
Ah, finally! After almost 2 years waiting for this released finally got my copy and I gotta say, it looks amazing watching this in bluray that got me shivers! The slip cover feels very good and i think it's the same as the 2.2 version. The bluray includes a thick art book that contains arts from characters and the Eva just as in image is displayed. It includes both English and Japanese audio and subtitles.I preorder this 2 years ago for 20 bucks! :-)

Where Rebuild gets weird...
I grew up with the original Evangelion TV series as it aired in Japan (and thus I was in junior high), and I credit it with helping me understand my own relationships with other people. So I was pretty excited about Rebuild!3.33 is where things start deviating pretty seriously and getting REALLY weird - but I still found this to be, at heart, Evangelion.

Great movie, I loved the new direction into uncharted ...
Great movie, I loved the new direction into uncharted territory. It was so different and strange and informative and left a few unanswered questions. Actually, I liked this more than the first one. So far I'd say the 2nd, third than 1st one in that order is my favorites.

redo with slightly newer script
liked the rewrite and the new format. fun exciting and familiar because it was based on the older script. overall a good disk but the sound quality in MY blu-ray was somewhat disappointing. BTW, my LG blu-ray will play a regular dvd, which is what this disk was. this is why I knocked it down to 3 of 5 and not 4 of 5. fans of evangelion will find it familiar and not as it is based but not exactly the same as the old evangelion plot.

It's finally here!
I've had this on preorder for over 2 years. I had to change my payment info like twice and even my shipping address because it's been so long, but hey I got the Bluray for $20 so it was all worth it. I'm just so excited it has finally been released. The movie itself was great though I had a few issues with it. The action and animation are beautiful as could be expected. The story has completely diverged from the anime at this point, which for me makes things more interesting. My main issue is that it feels incomplete without the next movie. 1.11 and 2.22 were satisfying experiences by themselves, after seeing them I was content with waiting for the next movie. With 3.33 I feel like I need to see 4.44 to get that satisfaction, and who knows how many years it's going to be till I get that. To be more specific, 3.33 just makes everything so much more confusing, I'm sure I'll make sense of it and appreciate it when 4.44 comes out, but for now it just feels really unresolved. The other thing is that Shinji is at an all time low, usually I'm okay with his tantrums because I feel like they are very realistic for someone in his situation, but in 3.33 Shinji is, as Asuka puts it, just a brat. I was waiting the whole movie for his moment of redemption but it just never came, and he was given opportunities too. Again I assume that moment will come in 4.44 but until then I'm just left unsatisfied. So final verdict: Good movie, but we need 4.44 now!

Its hard to say whether or not you'll enjoy this movie
Its hard to say whether or not you'll enjoy this movie. Its that special sort of insanity that will bring some people in while driving others away. If you've enjoyed the series so far, give it a try.

Evangelion: 3.33 You Can (Not) Review
The home release of the third of the Evangelion Rebuild films - 3.33 You can (Not) Redo - has been delayed and delayed for so long but now after all the wait it has finally been released from limbo and into the public. The delay is regarded to be due to issues with Studio Khara and Funimation and the quality of the latter's English dubbing efforts. But about the release; this version is the BD+DVD Collector's edition. It comes (As can be seen in the attached images) the blu-ray and DVD discs in a single standard blu-ray case along with the guidebook included with this version of the release all contained in a cardboard sleeve/slip. The 52-page guidebook contains character, environment and prop art such as the pilots, EVAs and angels as well as containing information about the "Rebuild of Evangelion 3.33" which is an edited version of the films scenes only using pre-production imagery and work such as rough animation or animatics (this is included on the discs themselves). The film itself can be watched in the new re-worked English dub as well as Japanese with two options of English subtitles: Home Video and Theatrical. Both are Dolby 5.1.Special features on the discs include the aforementioned Q: Rebuild of Evangelion 3.33, trailers, teasers and TV spots for the movie. A disappointment to me is that, unlike Funimation's two previous Evangelion film releases, there is no audio commentary featuring the producers at Funi*, dubbing staff or voice actors. The reason I picked this version as opposed to the singular Blu-ray release came down to two factors: I'm a sucker for special edition releases of anything and the pricepoint at the time of ordering was so close it made the decision easy - at only a couple pounds difference between the BD and BD+DVD versions, I may aswell go for this one, right?Overall, if you just want to own the movie and don't care too much about the guidebook or cover then you may as well opt for one of the other two, either the DVD or Blu-ray. I wouldn't say there's anything so worth the extra money in this 'Collector's Edition' that you would be missing out if you didn't grab it.
