I've had my own radio since I was ten. This RF-D30 is easy to live with; it's reliable; it's tough; it sounds great. FM tuning is brilliant. Best portable radio ever. Batteries last about three weeks, for me. I bought one for my son, this Christmas.

Panasonic have just got everything right about this radio. The reception is excellent, the controls are well thought and easy to use (e.g. 10 presets!), the sound quality is very good and functionality is boosted by the ability to bluetooth stream. I bought this product after rejecting a Roberts RD70. The Roberts was also an excellent radio, as expected given it is 2x price of the Panasonic RF-D30. The sound of the Roberts was their signature - 'warm', 'rich' sound. Which in practise for me meant music sounded great but speech lacked clarity. In comparison the Panasonic is crystal clear on voice-based stations and whilst not hi-fi level for music is still prefectly good quality with a decent frequency spectrum and a bass that is present but not strong. The use of 4 C-batteries in the RF-D30 also means portability with decent battery life (20+ hours). In summary, not the most chic, not an audiophile dream but an absolutely great radio that 'does what it says on the tin' - deliver excellent quality sound from a wide range of radio stations.

This was a best buy in which when I bought it, and justifiably so. It's slightly bigger than I expected, but I should have read the dimensions if bothered. I bought it to replace a small Roberts Messengr which finally gave up the ghost. The setup is easy, and setting your favourite stations a doddle, as it is similar to many other radios where you want to set preset buttons. The reception is astounding, as I don't even need to put the aerial up when it's in the same place where the Roberts needed a long wire aerial and it still struggled. Added bonus is that I can Bluetooth to it and play music from any other device. On the whole this is highly recommended, especially when paired with Amazon Basics rechargeable batteries.

Works well, good sound. Happy with it for now.

Bought on sale which meant a good device from a reputable brand was actually cheaper than some of the anonymous electronics brands you find on here. Very happy with it, the dab is very good, sound quality is great, Bluetooth is quick and easy to pair but switching between steaming devices is tricky but that is the same for most Bluetooth devices I've ever used. FM radio quality is also good and speakers have a nice tone. Clear at low volumes and can get good and loud. Handy to have in a corner of your kitchen or maybe a shed or workshop. A little disappointed that they went with a barrel connector for the wall wart. I just do not understand why everything doesn't come with a usb micro a or usb-c connector in this day and age and allow you to use longer or shorter cables or other chargers if you need them. Also I would think at this point that these kinds of radios would all come with a built in battery. That's another limitation of using the barrel connector, you can't use a usb battery bank. But again it is a good device and worth the money despite these annoyances.

about 1.5 years after purchase the power intermittently goes off. The cable in port is too fragile and simply from being moved occasionally for cleaning it's developed a fault. Very annoying and thought a brand like Panasonic would do better. Tried the alternative of batteries but it absolutely chews though batteries in a few weeks.

This radio is a dab/fm mains/x4C type battery operated. It is reassuringly solid and substantial in weight and you cannot accidentally knock it over and it IS splashproof (as i have had this radio in use in my busy kitchen a few months before I did this review) very happy with it and it works with a selection of equaliser options and screen illumination settings and a great selection of pre set stations (FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS and you will be very happy with it) It is very sturdy and will certainly take any amount of knocks. A nice modern looking radio.

Panasonic often make quality audio video equipment and this is one of those quality items. After an exhaustive search of DAB radios in which is became clear that the sound quality on many units isn’t great, we opted for this Panasonic Radio. Setup was easy (didn’t even look at the manual), the radio picked up loads of DAB stations and we were quickly able to install some favourites in the shortcuts. Bluetooth worked brilliantly and linked to a tablet without any fuss. After setup it was time to really appreciate the minimalist look and that this is a well built unit of good quality . As DAB radios go this seems to be good value unit sitting between the cheaper Chinese units and true Hifi receivers. Another winner from Panasonic.
