Excellent for nervous cat
We went from ceramic to steel, and the only issue is that the cat was a bit nervous of the different color and reflections. However, she got over it within a few hours. I' love this brand as they are easy to put together and take apart for cleaning, the pump is strong but basically silent, and we've never had any issues. Its big enough to always have enough water, but also small enough that we can dump and rinse out every other day or so between deep cleanings.

Great Product & Product Support!
This is the only water fountain that my cats canโt lift the lid off of, so itโs been a lifesaver! Iโve had this fountain for maybe 2 years and itโs been easy to use & clean. Just this morning I had an issue where the water wasnโt pumping even though it was plugged in. I thought Iโd have to buy a new one, but I reached out to their support team who helped me fix the problem within minutes and was so kind and helpful throughout the conversation. Heavily recommend getting one of these and supporting this team!

Owners of rambunctious cats be warned!
This fountain would be 6/5 if not for the only flaw, which is the top half of the fountain is only held on by gravity and a tiny bit of suction. What this means is a rambunctious kitten (big or small) can knock the metal cone off of the pump assembly and leave the fountain fairly unusable until it's put back. Niles went as far as to remove the cone entirely this morning! To be clear, the normal pawing that cats do at their water will not affect this fountain. As a cat owner of almost 30 years, Niles is the most inquisitive, destructive, and I'm contractually obligated to say loving, cat I've ever met. So if you have a Niles, you might need to adapt to make this fountain work for you. The pros are all great otherwise. It is truly easy to clean! The pump and filter assembly come apart with minimal effort and in a way that all the crevices can be effectively reached. The pump is very quiet, and pretty consistent through the week. We have three cats, so we have to top off the water mid-week. We clean once a week, and the water doesn't get gross by the end. The cats all acclimated to it well, but it did take about a week to two weeks of it running before we saw them all use it. We have one skittish boy who was more hessitant, so we kept their other water out for the first week, and then moved the fountain to the spot where their old water bowl was for the second, and that seemed to work well. All in all, for a household with normal cats, and for people who are both particular about cleaning and appreciate efficiency, I would highly recommend!

Good fountain!
I ended up returning this because my cat was scared of it and prefers his stagnant water in his ceramic bowl, lol. So from experience it is not suitable for timid cats. It isnโt quiet, but the sound of the water is soothing to me personally, I canโt hear the motor running though as long as the water level is above minimum. The pros of this fountain is that you can see the water level and quality at all times. The fountain has several parts to clean but is easy to clean, to unassemble and reassemble. The filters are reasonably priced and easy to attain. I love that animals can drink from either the top of the tower, the side of the tower, or the basin. Love that it is mainly made of stainless steel which makes it healthier choice and easier to clean, also keeps the water cooler too! Now for the cons: the basin is a little too narrow to drink from without animals getting their heads wet from the water running down the tower. The water is exposed to dust and water ever else is flying around in the air, so I imagine you may have to change the filter out more often depending on the location of the fountain. I disliked the charcoal filter, it seemed no matter how much I rinsed it there was still some charcoal dust. The brand filters quality is inconsistent and judging from reviews, buying the generic ones the cotton is too thick and wears out the pump quickly. The other thing I noticed and it never seemed to improve much for as long as we had it, is even after following all the directions, washing and rinsing really well, dumping and refilling water, the water always had a strong plastic or metallic taste to it. I know because I tasted it myself even after I cleaned it more than once and used different water. It seems to be a decent fountain, and I really wanted to love it but unfortunately it wasnโt a good fit for my guy. Hopefully others will have luck with it though!

So far so good!
My cat LOVES this thing! I bought this specifically for when we were on a trip out of town for a week because her water bowl ends up with a layer of fur floating in it and any food she accidentally flings into the bowl while eating. When we're home we sometimes have to dump out and refill her water two times per day, but our pet sitter was only coming to care for her once per day so I figured at least a fountain would constantly be running and filtering the water so she'd constantly have clean water. We set it up the night before our flight and she was very curious and intrigued by the water and light reflections, wanted to paw at it, and it did make her want to drink water but for a few days she would check out the water fountain and then go over to her regular water bowl to drink water from that instead. After a few days, we kept catching her on our pet cams drinking from it. She drank at least a couple of times per day with her regular water bowl, but would sometimes have long bouts where she would ignore it. She has consistently been drinking much more water from the fountain than she ever did with her normal bowl. I had been planning on disassembling and storing it while we were home, but with how much she loves it and how often she drinks from it, even though we're very much lacking when it comes to an adequate amount of power outlets and space in our kitchen, we're keeping the fountain as a permanent fixture, plugged in 24/7. We've only used it for two weeks exactly at this point, so can't speak to any issues with rust, but thus far there isn't any issue with the steel. The filters work great and keep the water clean for a long time. Our pet sitter dumped and replaced the water once while we were gone and we did the same after we got back, I finally disassembled and cleaned it today, so technically we went 2 weeks between cleanings by replacing the water a couple of times, but you are supposed to take it apart and clean it every 7 days. With the stainless steel, it's easy to see when it needs to be replaced and/or cleaned. Steel is the most sanitary material for food and water so I would never consider a plastic fountain anyway. I have several other products from PetSafe that are all good quality so I felt like their fountain would be a safe bet, and so far so good, I'm pleased with it and the quality. The only thing that would make it better is if I could somehow have it be battery powered and if the footprint was even smaller since we have an NYC apartment, but this is actually one of the smaller fountains available so it's not too big. She is pretty skittish when it comes to noises, but the fountain is not loud at all. The only thing we hear is the water trickling (which is good since that helps make her want to drink the water). We can't hear the motor at all, but we do have a constant low hum from our air purifier and fridge and usually traffic and subway noise, so maybe if you live in the middle of nowhere and nothing else in your house makes noise, you might hear it faintly, I wouldn't know.

Disappointing! Gross & Stopped Working
SO DISAPPOINTED. I had been looking for another stainless steel water fountain for my cats, as I felt the one I had had too many small parts to regularly clean; I saw this one and hoped for it to be the fountain of my dreams - only to have it be a total disaster! Within the first few days, the motor kept making a really loud grinding type sound - I'd unplug it and wait anywhere from 5-30 min and plug it back in; it'd be fine and then really loud within an hour. I then discovered if I lightly tapped the bowl it'd stop. Then after a week, I started to smell something awful - after doing a deep clean of my kitchen (where I kept the bowl), convinced that somehow something fell under my fridge or stove and was rotting, I then realized the smell was coming from the bowl. I unplugged and went to clean it, and the inside was SO gross - I still can't tell if it was mold or algae, but it was a very very slimy dark green substance all over the inside of the bowl. I was SHOCKED and felt awful that my cats were drinking this! I had read reviews and the instructions and planned to do my deep clean & filter replacement at the 2 week mark; this was only day 8! After replacing all filters and everything and doing a super deep clean, I gave it another try - the loud griding motor noise remained, and by day 5 I noticed the smell had returned. I went to give a little clean (thinking maybe a light cleaning was needed halfway through the deep clean and filter replacement) and AGAIN it was gross and slimy inside, and the filters also were covered in whatever the gross stuff was. I only used filtered water for this, nor have I had this type of issue from any other water fountain bowls I have used. I again did a deep clean and replaced all the filters, and then the next day the motor had totally died. The water level was full, but no water was moving and nothing was happening with the motor. I am extremely disappointed with how this water fountain was, both with the motor and how gross it got very quickly. After switching back to my previous fountain with the small parts, at my 2 week cleaning it still was signifcantly cleaner compared to 5 days with this awful fountain.

Cheap quality, but the cats like it
The cats love it for the versatility of being able to drink from the top, basin or sides. So as far as โwill my cats use itโ this has been the best shape hands down. Quality though p*ssed me off. This is the thinnest cheapest stainless steel you can get. Think, the thin stainless pet dishes you can pickup at a discount store. I could fold this thing in half with my bare hands if I wanted to. Iโve got $20 fountains that had thicker stainless steel than this. Iโve owned other fountains by the brand and they reuse a lot of parts. For example the rubber gasket that covers the hole the wire from the filter feeds out of the dish with. They didnโt bother to produce it in a smaller size (or the opening larger on the fountain itself) so it really does not sit in place well on the opening in this fountain. Itโs fairly easy to clean and the cats love it so Iโm going to keep using it, but Iโm not happy about how cheaply made this is for a PetSafe product. This is truly discount store quality.

I recommend it
This seems to be a very nice fountain. It doesn't take up too much space, it has a nice burbling sound without motor noise. Because the surface is reflective with the metal, it is sometimes hard to see how full it is. It sometimes looks like there's only an inch of water when it's actually full. I learned this after filling it when it was already full and making a tremendous mess. Since then I've made sure I had a good light to see it better.

Waste of money not UK compliable
Didn't realise seller was in the US. This product is Not UK compliable. Has a completely different plug on it. Does not fit and UK SOCKETS. Alot of money to buy and cost me nearly as much to return it. Anyone in the UK DO NOT BUY IT.

This is the best fountain I've had so far!
It's sleek and simple. I hate anything plastic for my cats, so this feels nice and clean. It went together easily and is easy to clean. One cat took to it right away - I haven't actually SEEN the other two drinking from it, but they don't seem scared of it or anything, so they probably are. I'm currently sitting right beside it in a quiet house and it makes a very pleasant running water sound - really soft, and no motor noise. Super happy! Update - 2 cats for sure using it all the time. I can tell from the litterbox everyone is much better hydrated - that was the goal!

Pump died within a month
I really wanted a stainless steel fountain for my pets to drink from, so I splashed out on this, and have been sorely disappointed. At first things were going well, but after less than a week, the pump died and the whole thing is useless. The fountain also initially only ships with one month's worth of filters despite the "2 filters" in the product, so do keep that in mind when you buy. Both filters are used at once. An all stainless steel fountain I bought from a Chinese OEM manufacturer has been trucking on for a year now, by contrast. I bought this internationally, so I'm not sure PetSafe will cover the warranty, but better see.
