We filled the base with sand as the instructions say and we filled rest with water and the stability is strong. It’s easy to open and close. The size is great. It tilts if you like and goes with the wind which helps when you have winds. We haven’t had to close it so far it’s doing incredibly well with our daily winds. During a hurricane we will full close and secure it. You will see in the picture I attached we also purchased a screen net to keep the lovely blood sucking mosquitoes away and it works perfectly with this umbrella! It is heavy, we get strong winds here, but I can easily move it around on our paver patio with a bit of effort. Our umbrella didn't even last 6 months and it completely broke. First the crank then the cord and without the cord the cannopy comes off the base. The whole thing is very well built and quite sturdy. All the parts fit together perfectly, including the bolts. Longest part of the installation was filling the base with four bags of sand. The water was easy. I was surprised that while the umbrella doesn't pivot horizontally, with two people you can move the base without killing yourself.
