These are great lil ratchet s
Have a couple of these usag made roundheads, lube when you get and once in a while and they are great. Typo in Amazon listing, not 8 1/2" more like 10 3/4". Smooth, small and compact head. Fit and finish are good. Knurling is precise, not extremely aggressive.

I have fanatically converted nearly all my hand tools to Proto and other US companies with USA-made tools as every good American male should. Simply outstanding stuff by Proto. Turns out, however, that not every tool is USA-made...This ratchet is excellent. Very smooth mechanism. Head moves great. Checkering on the handle is if anything somewhat finer and less rough than the 3 other Proto ratchets I have. Very well made overall.So, this tool does not have the usual Proto "U.S.A" mark denoting that it was a tool made here in the States. I called the good folks at Proto down in Georgia, who are outstanding by the way, to ask them about it. They said the J5257F ratchet is actually made in Italy. Well, sweet. At least she was not "Made in China." Because of this, and the fact that The Godfather Part II is my favorite flick, I'm keeping her. Buongiorno.

Nice but finsih is not good
Very nice ratchet. Knurling is super. The issue I have with mine is the dents in the finish. I still kept it.

Great Gift for someone who loves working on cars
The Stanley Proto J5257F 3/8" Drive Flex Head Ratchet, 8-1/2" is a good investment. I bought this as a gift for a friend and they absolutely love it. They work on cars all the time so they found it very useful and durable. It has a great precision and is very flexible in tight spaces.
