I bought mine, it came in the mail, I broke it out and went to work! The ease with which I peeled. cored and sliced almost 8 bushels, yes BUSHELS, apples last fall was amazing. I dehydrated apples (my kids love them as a snack), made apple sauce, and apple butter. It didn't matter whether the apples were large apples from the Amish market, or smaller ones off the trees across the road from our house. It took really no time or effort. it is so efficient, I would snap off the ends of the apples and toss them to the dogs. three dogs, a snack every 45 seconds, they love the apple peeler and lay all over the kitchen floor while I am peeling apples. I had a small problem, one of the pins that holds the apple in place came out, and while I could put it back in, it didn't stay. I contacted the company, and as soon as I provided the order number, a full replacement was on its way to me. (or is it aluminum?)** A: Box label states, "High Quality Cast Steel" **Q: Can you core and slice without peeling the apple?** A: Yes, easily. There is a a lever that locks the peeler arm back **Q: Can this be used to peel oranges** A: No. The inside of the orange is too soft. The spears that go into it would just circle around inside of the orange so the orange wouldn't rotate to be peeled. This happens with soft apples as well so you really need fresh apples with this. I just saw that it can peel potatoes! You would just remove the corer part. **Q: how do you clean after using?** A: It's pretty important that you get all the juice off and dry it well.
