Currier and Ives Dinnerware

Excellent book for Currier and Ives collectors. Hope the authors are able to do an update soon. Great photos and good information on various differences in common pieces such as sugar bowls, creamers and mugs. Took a lot of research to pull this wonderful guide together and as a collector since the 80’s, I appreciate having another good reference guide.

Just what I wanted. My grandmother had one and it is exactly as I remembered! I am very pleased.

It was exactly what I needed to check prices on dishes and get the names of the artwork on each dish.

As a casual collector of Currier & Ives dinnerware, I was expecting a lot more. There were at least four more pie bakers than illustrated. More than just one version of the salt and pepper shakers, not to mention several more versions and sizes of mugs, mixing bowls, and many other pieces. I thought the book would be all-inclusive, but there just is not that much more to it than in an earlier book from many years ago. I thought the listed prices were greatly exaggerated as well. Standard eBay prices are by far lower than the retail .com resource referenced in the book. I was also surprised not to see the small company that currently makes some unusual (pie birds, egg cups, rolling pins, etc) Currier & Ives pieces in the traditional blue and white pattern. If a past company that produces 'go withs' can be featured in the book, why not a current-day producer of pieces in this pattern? Long story short: there is a lot more out there than in this book. And while many of those items are not particularly rare, it would have been nice had they been included so novice collectors can look for them.
