Easy to install

This check valve flap assembly fits the Pentair 8 screw check valve assembly. It does not fit the 12 screw Pentair valves. Make sure you clean the inside of the valve housing carefully before installing the new flapper. Also ensure the old O-ring is removed and the new one is properly lubricated.

The original Check-Valve worked flawlessly for years; however, after changing pool service companies the Check-Valve's began to fail within weeks. The discovery was that the 3" Chlorinator tube was in-line with the Check-Valve and would compound the chlorine and allow it to pool concentrated chlorine against the Check-Valve and deteriorate the spring. I went through five (5) of these Check-Valve's and finally found out that a Chlorinator needs to be recessed below any Check-Valve to avoid this high-concentrate chlorine pooling. Alternatively I simply placed a floating 3" Chlorine Tab unit in the spillway basin to avoid any further issues and avoid using the Chlorinator tube altogether.

This is the replacement flapper from Pentair. I installed it 33 days ago in my pool because the previous one rusted after a few years. A week ago I noticed that the spa was again losing water so I checked the flapper, and sure enough, it had rusted through in less than a month. For a $60 item, this is totally unacceptable. I cannot imagine that the metal is stainless steel or it wouldn't have rusted through so quickly. It's also a much thinner gauge metal than the aftermarket replacements. It's not like this was a cheap, knockoff flapper. I bought it because it is made by Pentair. Lastly, I wound up paying more for this than if I had gone to the overpriced Leslie's. I will be sending the remains of this junk back and demanding a refund.

Works like new. Fit is very good and easy to install. Comes with all the parts you need. Appear to be made of durable materials and the seal works very well with no leakage.
