HakkoA1005 Desoldering Nozzle, 1.0mm, for 802/807/808/817

I purchased this tip as a replacement for the one that came with the 808 kit. I put the original one through a lot of abuse and didn't clean it often enough. When the tip became clogged I used the tip cleaner that came with the kit. Unfortunately the tip cleaner became bent and after several more uses broke off inside the tip.When you receive the tip it comes with the hole covered in a layer of solder. Once you attach it to your gun and it warms up, the solder will melt and tin the tip. Also note that the tip does not come with a cleaning tool. I had read somewhere that they did but unfortunately mine did not. The cleaning tool is just a 1mm diameter wire that is wound at the bottom to help disperse the heat. Despite the simplicity, they are expensive, costing around $16 after shipping. $16 is a bit much for what is essentially a piece of wire but it is absolutely necessary to have if you want to use your 808 more than once.Be certain to keep the tip clean and tinned. The 1.0mm tip is the only size that I've tried and it seems to work well for salvaging components and doing repairs. I went through 4 ratshack brand desoldering irons before I acquired the 808. It's quickly becoming one of the most often used tools on the bench. Keep your tips tinned & cleaned and they will last you a very long time.

Expensive but very good tip last much longer then non Hakko tops

I desolder thousands of encoders and these tips last as long as you tin them and clean lightly regularly.Guess we could always wish for a lower price but they are probably worth it!This is the lowest price I could find:)

My Hakk0 808 keeps on working, but occasionally you need to replace the tip, so nice they are still available.
