PEX Clamp Tool (PEX Cinch Tool)

First, cinch clamps are the only way to go for do it yourself installation/repair. They are cheaper and can be easily removed.Clamps will NOT hold 1) If the pex pipe is caked with rust, lime, or calcium. Clean the inside thoroughly and 2)Old and sometimes new pex pipes get real hard, especially in cold weather. Warm up the pipe very hot with a heat gun or high powered hair dryer. Then, as fast as possible, crimp the ring. This will 'mold' it into the grooves of the fitting.Some new pex pipes are very hard, since the fiber in the plastic makes it strong. And new and especially old pipes weather and could be extremely hard. And new pipes have a silicone based lubricant on them to allow easy extrusion. So clean new pipe also with alcohol or nail polish.Priority shipping means the item will be shipped by USPS priority mail. That takes 3 to 5 days - not 1 to 3 as Amazon advertised. Regular mail gets to my location in about the same time. So why pay extra? For overnight, Amazon has to be contacted, since that option does not appear. So, it'll still take 3 days minimum.

These did everything I needed them to and for the price this product is unmatched. Many other products are 5x as much for the same thing but I'm not a plumber so I didn't want to pay very much. I have used these only 3 times so I can't attest for the durability but for a few home projects now and then they have been great.

50% of the fittings I installed with this tool leaked. I've been using the "crimp" style tool for over 2 years before this without a leak. You get what you pay for I guess.

The tool worked first time and every time as I converted the house I had purchased in August but didn't close on until 2/05/13 to baseboard heat. Who ever the seller had winterized it failed as every radiator on the main floor was cracked bad.

This is a cinch to use and save me a ton of money. Much easier and cheaper than the crimp ring system.
