I do think the quality of the materials is good, consistent, and there are no booby traps involved with the build up, but it's not easy. It's a good gift, but only for the right person who enjoys some complex model building. It has been a great project for my 11 year old son. We have done 2 of these types of wood model builds. He did much more on his own with the second build and we both enjoyed the process. And... the built model is pretty solid, but I wouldn't give it 5 stars for sturdiness (maybe that is unfair of me, as it's as sturdy as you can expect a complex mechanical model to be).
