Power Failure Detector with Text Message and Email Alerts. Sends SMS Power Outage Alarms and Restoration Alerts to Two Phones.

It’s great. Does exactly what it should. Nice build quality. Comes with 3 AAA alkalines installed but apparently only uses them in outages. Smart. The only downside is that you’re spending $60 and hoping the company stays in business for as long as you need the alerts. It includes the subscription. Remove AC power from the USB adapter it’s plugged into and it fires off up to 2 SMS texts and as many as 5 email addresses. Then you can set up a distinctive alert on your phone to differentiate from the daily noise.This is a God-send as we have a solar and storage system yet don’t receive utility outage notifications. So power could be out and we be draining our battery and not know it. I have a second panel that is only powered from utility. So I put this on a circuit on that panel. Then I can make load decisions in an outage. Eg turn off things that will take the battery down quickly.

I was having a problem with my freezer tripping the breaker and didn't want to lose anything in it so I purchased this to help inform me of the power problem. I just plugged it into the same outlet as the freezer. It was easy to install and easy to register. I get both an email and a text message when the power fails. Sure enough, two days after installing I received the messages and was able to save thousands of dollars of customer merchandise because of it. The only issue could be you need WIFI in order for it to work.

I put it in a weatherproof case to monitor an outdoor GFCI that powers an outdoor sump pump. I needed to seek a peace of mind to be informed if the GFCI trips, causing the sump pump to not operate. The only missing part from the instructions was how to delimit using two phone numbers. (It's a comma, btw).

Just installed mine 2 weeks ago in my cabin and have already been notified twice that the power was out as well as when it came back on.

It's gone off around a hundred times in two days while never once losing power unless I unplugged it, which has happened four times.Thank god it never tells me when power comes back on, as it's set to do.I have tried multiple power supplies as well as plugging into an outlet with built-in USB.This one, at least, appears to be trash, just filling up my email and texts with worthless notices. At over 100-1 false positives, it's worse than worthless.I'll hook it up to a power bank. If it goes off before the power bank runs out, it goes in the trash. If not, it's far too sensitive to minor blips.Not wild about how it works, either. You can't set it up locally, you have to do it through their site. And no app. An app would have ended the need to go to a website, and ended the deluge to my mailbox and texts.Not impressed, and not expecting to be. 😡Edit: And there it is. Ten minutes after being plugged into a full, charging 286wh power bank, it claims the power is out.Trash, and now in the trash. Pure worthless dog doodie. Save your money. These aren't getting returned because folks didn't realize they needed running wifi as I'd hoped, they are getting returned because they are craptastically bad. Sure, they do go off when power goes out, but it also goes off constantly when it doesn't. Lesson learned.

I'm always concerned about devices like this, especially after reading the reviews, but so far the My Spool Power Failure Detector works as expected. I just bought this 2 weeks ago and it works and I've had no issues since I installed it! I get email notices whenever the power goes off and come back on. (As I'm writing this, I don't think I get text alerts, so I might need to check my settings)Like any IoT device, the initial set up is 'finicky'. It took me a few attempts to get it connected to my network, mainly because my device (Google Pixel phone) wouldn't open the browser window needed to enter my WiFi credentials. Again, not MySpool's problem and exactly the same 'finicky' connection issue I have with all my other devices that require you to connect to via WiFi. (Note: you connect your phone to My Spool device via WiFi like connecting to any WiFi router, not Bluetooth, then you enter your home WiFi credentials, then it will disconnect from your phone and connects to your home WiFi router. Just keep trying, it does work!

Great customer service. For some reason the unit I got from Amazon wasn't working properly. Could not ID the problem as it would not activate or deactivate or got stuck in the power loss cycle. Wifi was working perfectly. Credit to the company for shipping me a replacement unit directly before trying to resolve the issue. Needed it for my nano fish tank for when I'm out.

There was an issue with my initial power failure detector, but after sending an email to the team I very promptly received a response and a replacement product was immediately shipped at no expense. This replacement unit has worked flawlessly - great product and phenomenal customer service and support.
