Lovely set of flatware

Oxford pattern that was delivered is NOT the same pattern in pictures at Amazon. I have 3 sets of the original Oxford which has narrower knives and larger handles for both spoons and forks.

I ordered this to replace missing pieces from a set I bought in the 2000’s that were still new looking. Not as heavy or nearly as nice :-( but now I have kids and they take them outside, into their rooms, or throw them in the trash, so I am again buying replacement pieces. When they are gone and I can have nice things again, I will upgrade.

I have been using this set for about ten years, I still get pleasure pulling them out of the drawer to eat. The weight has heft. They just feel good in my hand . I am impressed with gourmet settings. The style is classic but not fussy. Has held up to a family of six who mainly eats at home day in and out. Also I use a dishwasher and they're still as good as the day I bought them.

Overall the set is okay, the knife other than butter, you can not cut anything else with it. I tried to open my mail once, and it failed! I did not mind the knife since I have a steak knife set that I use. Also the main fork is not pointy enough.So 3 out of 5 items are good, so I gave it 3 stars.

I owned this set for 4 or more years now...and I wash them, not in the dishwasher, but with my scratchy sponge. Despite that, they are still quite darn shiny. I admit, I don't use them everyday though, most of the nights are spent using chopsticks! Regardless, they are used a couple days every week, and treated quite roughly.What I like most about these flatware are the simple take on a classic design, and the weight and heft of Gourmet Setting's products. It doesn't feel pretentious, nor does it feel cheap. It feels smooth in the hand, and you know you're not eating off some cheap aluminum cafeteria standard, nor are you crying because you paid an arm and leg for flatware that look like they belong to your Grandma (or not- but still paid with an arm). The price for these guys aren't all too bad in my opinion.I recently bought GS Handmade dessert spoons and they too have the same heft and shine. I already know I'm going to be a lifelong devotee to this brand. I feel like I'm eating off a million bucks.

Is this flatware set attractive? Nnnno. Stems are freakishly long, heads are oddly sized. Salad fork is actually a shrunken dinner fork, which looks more like a shrimp fork than anything. Finish is shinier than a set of chrome rims. Will it butter your bread and transport food from plate to mouth? Yes. Mission accomplished.
