What we needed

So I gave this 4 stars, not because it's a bad product. It's because I didn't know that eggs came in such varying shell thicknesses. Now I'm not an idiot, I know they can be different, but I didn't realize by how much. So the first time I used this, I had eggs with the thickest shells I think I have ever seen. I think I could have dropped them on the floor from 3 ft. up, and they wouldn't have broken. So when I tried to use this, it didn't seem to work for a darn. I tried pulling it up really high and getting it to crack. No-go. I tried 3 or so shallower smacks. No-Go. So I kept with the shallow smacks. FINALLY - SUCCESS!!!My next batch of eggs, not nearly as bad, I got them in 3-4 shallow smacks, and have had similar results since.Just remember, shallow smacks (Maybe 1/2" high), multiple times until it cracks, and you'll love it.

Works for me. I like it. Best to open a raw egg over the intended location - contents can spill over.

Not useful. Doesn't take the top off. Hard to use.

Neat little tool.Currently, I’ve only used on raw eggs; been looking for a less-messy way to crack eggs for omelettes, etc. It takes two or three passes, but it does cut the top out well.I believe it will be fine with soft-boiled eggs.However, the egg still runs down the shell a bit, but not as messy as cracking egg on a counter or bowl rim.
