The Very Best Of Sandra

Growing up in the U.K., Sandra was not an artist I was ever exposed to. I blame Radio 1 & "Top Of The Pops", "The Chart Show" etc for that. It's a shame because she would have (should have) slotted right in there between my Madonna, Kylie obsessions & thus she is the missing piece of the puzzle that strangely did create a (now filled) void in me.Despite never really having ever holidayed abroad, upon purchasing the Blank & Jones Extended Mix Compilation some three years ago, I realised that somehow (in some way) echos were somehow being stirred in my subconscious of several tracks (mainly "Heaven Can Wait", "Secret Land" & "In The Heat of the Night").This was a truly bizarre deja vu experience for me to have as I still can't define the actual moment in either time & space where I heard them (or by what medium) but somehow I had & all the pieces started to fall into place that they originated from this woman (& her then husband "Mr Enigma" Michael Cretu).I love this album, it was a revelation from start to finish to discover so many strong, very well seagued (predominately) classic synth driven, melodic tracks that were so successfully airbrushed from my consciousness by the U.K. Music Media.I can only describe it as strange (yet fascinating) to realise that by & large the mysterious whispery voiced female vocalist in the background of several key Enigma Recordings (who of course did break the U.K. Market in the 1990's), in fact belonged to this mysterious & enigmatic woman who was so successfully veiled from U.K. public view.I have since purchased every studio album in Sandra's back catalogue & especially love most of them. I have never been on a musical voyage of discovery like this before & really do feel like a void within me that I suspected was there has now been filled musically!I can only assume the rumours that Sandra was blocked from BBC playlists by D.J. Mike Read (on account of her being German) are true. I hate that the alleged prejudice of this silly man A.K.A "Veteran Broadcaster" (in his role as BBC Youth Tastemaker in Chief) effectively altered the natural course of my childhood.Getting to know an entire back catalogue is usually an organic process that happens over many years as that catalogue forms & is then released, so to instead discover such a rich in texture, woven musical tapestry stretching over 4 decades (in only three short years) has been a very rich & rewarding experience indeed. I'm just going to say it, I love Sandra (as an artist) but am totally pissed of with those in U.K. Media who so ruthlessly engineered her almost complete blanket U.K. Media blackout over so many years!This album is truly a treasure to behold (made all the more worthwhile due to its inclusion of a DVD of all Sandra's music videos - none of which I had ever seen before). This compilation truly is a genuinely fascinating & comprehensive collection of Sandra's body of work, I simply never tire of consuming all three discs (without skipping anything) back to back.. . Now, to go back to collecting what remains of her CD Single Collection in order to complete my "Sandra SoSo 90's+" Remix Collection!

Absolutely amazing! 30 tracks chosen by her fans to celebrate 30 year's in the music business what could go wrong? Deep breaths the answer is nothing at all!! The only track missing for me is Seal It Forever but that is a minor minor quibble. The real bonus points here for me is the Dvd which basically mirrors the complete collection but has 3 extra songs The Night Is Still Young. Infinite Kiss and Secrets Of Love and the videos have been remastered and are in 16:9 widescreen ratio. If you are a Sandra fan you HAVE to have this anyone curious purchase and prepare to be astounded by greatness

What a great album!, full of great pop songs, a perfect all year round album.

Always been a fan...back when I used import all her releases from Germany (not the cheapest of hobbies). So this has updated my collection..little disappointed with the dude formatting as I've already 4:3 on vhs...maybe I misread somewhere but thought video had been brought up to date
