Review: It worked! Saved an aging motorcycle jacket for now - It smelled like rubber cement, and I thought I had massively overpaid for a tube of rubber cement. But turns out its not that, its a different formulation. I had a textile motorcycle jacket with a couple rips in the side, took some 1000 denier nylon sheet, made some custom shaped patches, and slathered this stuff all over the jacket and patch, and let it cure overnight. Does it look like it was patched? Yes, yes it does. I don't care. Its held up well to wearing and high winds from riding fast. Very glad I tried this. Two thumbs up.

**Q: Does it stick nylon to nylon fabric for my waterproof jacket?**
A: I've done a lot of waterproofing (jackets, backpacks, tents, shoes) & I've tried Seam Grip Sealer & I HATE IT WITH A PASSION! It just never dries; after months & months it's still sticky (the company admits it's difficult to cure & recommends sprinkling baby powder on it to help it dry - BABY POWDER?! Who wants baby powder all over everything?!). And when it comes in contact with itself on a seam it sticks & when you try to pull it apart it rips away the sealer. Seam sealing is time consuming & I've wasted mucho time tearing off the sticky Seam Sealer mess & using much better products: For heavy materials I like E6000; it costs 1/2 as much for twice as much sealer, drys fast, stays flexible but is tuff & protects the seams. Because it does dry fast, be ready to work quick to spread it out & the funky chemical smell will go away in a couple of weeks. For lighter materials such as coats, I like Coghlan's Seam Sealer; it's easy to use, seals the seam well, drys quick & a 2 oz tube goes a long way, and again, is much cheaper than Seam Grip.  If you want to glue two pieces of nylon together, I'd recommend Beacon Fabri-Tac - it bonds quickly & permanently, dries clear & is washable. It's not cheap, but makes a super bond & a 4 oz bottle will do a lot of projects.

**Q: will this work on the seams of canvas popup camper. Then be able to spray with water repellant after the sealant dries?**
A: The problem is, although Seam Grip Sealer does waterproof seams, it NEVER dries! It remains sticky FOREVER! It's a failed product that apparently gets positive feedback from people who are delusional or in some way connected with marketing it. Harsh words, but I've tried it, and & I'm still hurtin' from having to go back over all my hard seam sealing work with a product that DOES dry so I didn't have a sticky mess in my packs, stuff sacks & tents. I'm not connected with ANY product & my advice is DON'T USE IT. E6000 is THE product for waterproofing seams - it not only waterproofs the seams, but also creates a tough layer that protects them, yet stays flexible; it costs half as much as Seam Grip Sealer & you get twice as much. And, It COMPLETELY dries in only a few minutes and you'll be able to apply any water proofing product over it with no problems. Seam Grip Sealer recommends sprinkling baby powder on the seams after application to help it dry - BABY POWDER EVERYWHERE? SERIOUSLY?! You WON'T be able to spray waterproofing on fabric covered with baby powder unless you want a sticky, useless mess! Another plus for E6000 is that its readily available in the hardware or automotive sections of all dept. stores. The only negatives are that it has a funky chemical smell that takes several weeks to go away completely & you have to work quickly smoothing it on the seams cause it dries FAST.

**Q: How many linear feet of tent seam could you seal with one 8oz tube?**
A: I guess that it depends on how thick you apply the seam sealer. For my tents, I used a liquid seam "sealer" and brushed it in with the supplied brush. I use Seam "Grip" for gluing patches and for applying on the top of an inflatable mattress to keep from sliding off, etc.My advice - think of what you are trying to do. Are you trying to glue something or simply sealing a seam? Seam "Grip" is heavy and thick like a glue, so if you want to seal a tent seam with it, you'really going to have to spread it around with something, because it's so thick.

**Q: What's the difference between this and gear aid seam grip repair adhesive and sealant?**
A: I am guessing here. The adhesive and sealant is where the seam sewing has given way or fabric tear but needs a waterproof sealant in the area as well as repair.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good stuff, but tricky to apply neatly

It's somewhat hard to know what the difference between all the Gear Aid/McNett sealing products really is. This material is extremely heavy duty and effective, but somewhat tricky to apply neatly. It has the consistency (and smell) of model glue or a thick general-purpose adhesive, but it really flows out nicely and grips seams and fabric well. The end result is a flexible, tough, glossy, somewhat thick, somewhat tacky, 100% waterproof seam. My advice for applying it would be to forget the brush-cap thing and go out and buy a few more bristle brushes. They don't have to be 'acid brushes' like the one supplied, but they should be somewhat soft and no wider than 3/8" – cheap artist brushes should work fine. You want several and you want them cheap because they will be ruined after using them with this stuff. When applying, I would squeeze out less than you think you need. Although it's thick, it can be brushed a fair amount and it will still flow out nicely. I found that if I brushed it out as thinly as I could while still getting a complete coating, the final result was good. If you put too much down, the end result is too bulky and thick, which can be a problem if you're folding it, etc. So keep it thin! You can always squeeze a small amount on your brush and add to what you've put down, but you won't be able subtract from what you've put down very easily. So this is very effective stuff, but it's not very pretty. And it's tacky after it has dried – I ended up applying seam tape over it to help take away the tackiness... it was more effort and cost, but the results are truly bombproof, durable and look reasonably good.
