Shappell FX50 Ice Fishing Windbreaker

I purchased this sled last January and used it every day of the month and then through February. It worked great, kept the wind off me and was not that difficult to put together(about an hour). I have done some modifications to it by adding rod holders, moving the bench back 3 inches and adding a removable swivel seat. Also a bracket on the front for my Vexilar fish flasher and a string of LED lights for night time. The sled works great and is light weight. A great buy.

I would give this 4 stars if it was a little easier to assemble. The directions were horrible. I had just look at the picture to figure it out.

Getting out of the wind is 3/4 of the battle of staying warm on the ice. This wind block is perfect. It's light and maneuverable. It was a piece of cake to assemble.

Its May and I will have to wait till late January for ice fishing season. But its been what I've been looking for. It was easy to assemble . Can't wait for ice fishing season.

I'm in Illinois where its cold but nothing like up north. I always face my back to the wind but this adds a whole new view of ice fishing. Blocks the wind very well and holds all of my equipment easily. I took appart a bleacher seat and added the backrest to the bench. Never been more comfortable while ice fishing

This shelter does what it claims, and that is keep the wind off the person sitting in it. It folds easily and stays up when erected. When folded, the seat is the highest part at 18 inches. The unit is well made and feels solid when using it. It pulls easily, and is fairly light weight. A Coleman type propane heater could be used in it for extreme conditions. The seat is plywood covered with thin carpeting. A hunting or fishing seat cushion makes the seat warmer. The assembly instructions are not very detailed. It would be best to study them thoroughly before assembly, especially how the two hoops that hold the canvas are attached.. All the pieces did fit together exactly as they should, once I understood how it all went together. I am glad I bought it.
