I used this to replace a Marineland Powerhead, my second powerhead to have failed in as many years. Since the powerhead is used to drive the undergravel filter, each time the Marineland Powerhead died, the biological balance in my tank went haywire- leading to green/blue algae blooms and stressed fish. I've just about had enough of it, and decided to buy the Aquaclear version. First, this product is labelled as "Made in Italy". I'm not entirely sure that's indicative of good quality (let's say I've had some run-ins with Italian cars). However, the filter felt like a quality piece, with a proper tight venturi tube connection, bottom 'funnel' adapter, adjustment levers that slide nicely and suction cups that actually stick to the glass and refuse to come off. In its default, full power configuration, this pump is actually almost too strong for my 29L tank, to the point where it was at first picking up stuff from the undergravel filter and blowing it out. I tried using the yellow lever as I understand that was supposed to be a flow control valve- but either it's not installed correctly or is meant to be used for "fine" adjustment, as it made some- not a huge amount of difference. I then used the green/red lever- this was described as a "switch" to go between forward and reverse flow, but slowly moving it also 'macro adjusts' flow- once I had a suitable flow rate, all was good. The adjustable bottom positioning is a nice feature since I don't need to slightly bend the undergravel filter tube to reach it. I would also like to point out that the Venturi tube section actually works properly, with small adjustments leading to an incremental increase in bubbling rather than essentially being an on/off switch as on other pumps. As I said earlier as well, I elected to use the suction cup mount and they are similar to Eheim suction cups in that they seem to refuse to come off once you've stuck them against the glass; the "hang" mount is also very nice quality as it is height adjustable and comes with a knob to adjust hold against the glass. Overall, for the low price, I would definitely recommend this powerhead.

Great product
Great product... the hang on bracket makes it eas to remove and clean without having to adjust the placement or flow after. Maintains good waterfowl and keeps my saltwater tank circulating perfectly.

Nice pump by itself, hard to use with other accessories.
EDIT: I've had this pump probably for almost a year now & I just wanted to adress an issue some people were having in the reviews. If this pump starts to get noisy or not pump as well as it should, it needs to be cleaned! It's very easy to take apart & put back together, and the part housing the impeller is usually the issue. My impeller had a hair wrapped around it which caused it to be noisy, & later when it stopped pumping well I cleaned the impeller chamber with cotton swabs & that had it working like new again. Just disassemble the pump & gently pull on the impeller blades to get it out & swab the chamber. ---- I really love AquaClear products most of the time. So I got this to use with my aquarium chiller because it was a brand I trusted. However, this is not a great pump to use with chillers or other accessories that aren't made by AquaClear because it doesn't come with any hose barbs or clamps and there is no reliable way to seal the venturi air valve if you don't want to use it. What I like: - Good gph and flow rate - comes with multiple attachments - adjustable and reversible flow - feels durable - inexpensive What I don't like: - air valve not fully optional - instructions were not clear - adjustable hang-on style attachment is not strong enough and feels cheap I ended up using the suction cup style attachment to put it in my aquarium because the hang-on style one was just too awkward and didn't allow me much freedom. The suction cup style one also allows me to take it out of the tank easily by just lifting it up. The hang-on style also slides all around whenever I bump the stiff hoses that run to my chiller, and I didn't like that. The suction cups are REALLY strong and hard to move once you get them on. You CAN use this pump with things like chillers, but be prepared to have a heck of a time getting the hose on the outflow and also be prepared to epoxy the air valve shut IF tying the air valve pipe in a knoprobabl just too jerry-rigged for you.

Very quiet and powerful!
Got my pumps in quickly and they were in perfect condition. Put them in my 75 and 55-gallon tanks, one salt water one fresh. They are working fantastically I use them with my under gravel filters and have had no issues with them they are pulling through a 5+ inch gravel bed and have no problem at all moving water! I was very impressed with the powerheads that I replaced where in excess of 10 years old and I hadn't realized how much power they had lost over that time until I replaced them with these new ones! Absolutely amazing is all I can say! If you have a large tank and are looking to make some current this is the way to go! I have been doing salt and freshwater tanks for over 20 years and I highly recommend this product! I have replaced all 4 of my old Powerheads with these 4 new ones and my tanks are looking great lots of circulation and my plants and corals are doing great!

I've been using 2 AquaClear powerheads for about 20 years. They finally gave out and I replaced them with exactly the same brand. The other powerheads which I also used in the past could not last more than 2 years. Highly recommended!

Excelente bomba.
