Baba, What Does My Name Mean?: A Journey to Palestine Paperback – March 20, 2020

Rifk Ebeid does a wonderful job of capturing the beautiful culture of the Palestinian people. She so eloquently writes every word, and manages to keep the children engaged. Although I’m originally from an Egyptian background, this book still speaks to my nieces in the sense that it first teaches them about a positive and happy Palestine. I’ve purchased this book for many friends and family from different backgrounds, and they’ve all said that their children love it! I hope there’s a part 2 to this!

This book literally brought tears to my eyes. Bought it for my little sister to show her more of our Palestinian heritage and all its beauty into her life and that there are books out there about kids with similar backgrounds to hers. There are not enough books out there, like this one, with representation that really does matter. I hope every kid, and adult gets to read this book because it is a glimpse into the beauty and strength of Palestine, Palestinians and all that our beautiful country has to offer. One day Palestine will be free.

I never leave reviews but this book is so beautifully written that I need to. I often wonder how to introduce the plight of the Palestinians to my little ones. This is it. Start here. The beauty of Palestine is captured in the most intricate ways and pulled at my heart strings. It humanizes our people, history, art, music and foods and therefore elevates our voices. I just ordered three more copies for my own baba and brothers for Father’s Day.

I married into a Palestinian family and always appreciate its history. Reading this book brought a tear to my eye knowing the heartache of a country taken from my husband, his family, and every Palestinian. I was SO excited to share this book with my mother-in-law who has dementia and it brought back memories she can share everytime she reads this book. Looking forward to the next..what made me a refugee. The only negative comment I have is the white writing was difficult to read on some of the lighter backdrop pages.

A lovely book!

This book brought tears to my eyes. As a Palestinian who lived in Palestine and am now raising my children in America, this book has captured everything that I’ve been trying to teach my children about our culture. It is well written and very beautiful. Ive already recommended to family and friends. Can’t wait for the next book!

They loved learning about the history and culture of different places in Palestine, and it got them asking questions that led to really interesting conversations.

My kids and I enjoyed reading and learning about falasteen together. Very nice illustration too. I wish there are more books for children about falasteen that are available at Amazon Canada.

An amazing children's book that introduces the reader to the cities of Palestine (which some are now parts of Israel). The brilliant book is also complemented by beautiful illustrations.

This is a heartwarming book about displaced Palestinians...how they dream about going back to their ancestral homes.. beautiful illustrations. We loved it
