Only option there is.
Newbie at kayaking, but not at boating. I knew I needed anchors and these are the only offerings there are, so , they work great, but nothing else to compare it too. They fit nice in the rod holders bey seat (tube style) and I installed two anchor trolly's, one on each side of the boat.I fly fish and I know I need to be able to stay put no matter what direction the wind comes from wile I hold a line to shore/weed line. These do the trick in the 3# version, but you have to let out enough rope for two tines to dig in first, otherwise the wind can blow the anchor with only the flater bottom touching the surface of the lake bottom. One trick is to use a light weight zip strip to make a loop for your anchor rope to pass thru and clip it to the anchor bottom where there is a hole for rope or clips. Then if you get it caught on some thing, you jerk the rope harded enough to break the zip strip and the tines come from free.

Great for anchoring drunkards, not great for climbing buildings...probably
Finally got the chance to use this out on the water! My wife and I go floating out on a small lake near our property. Sometimes alone and sometimes with friends. I figured this anchor would be great to position us out in the middle of the lake where we could relax for hours on end. The anchor itself is small but obviously weights 3-pounds so it has some heft. When collapsed the metal nut like piece fold down on top of the prongs to keep them in place and when opened the nut can slide down to keep the prongs spread. While out on the lake it started with 4 of us, a combined weight of probably 600-700 pounds and the anchor kept us locked in firm. Then some more people joined making it 6 of us and probably 1100-1200 pounds combined and it still held firm, mind you this is a pretty soft lake bed as well. Then we had more people join.. at this point we were up to 10 people and 7 different floats all anchored around this one small 3 pound anchor. The combined weight at the height of our first day using this thing had to be closer to 2,000 pounds and this thing still held us relatively in place. I suspect we slipped a bit closer to shore but it was hardly noticeable. I couldn't be happier with a purchase and I highly recommend this for anyone floating or kayaking! It is sturdy and apparently stronger than suspected!

Works well enough
I bought this as a low profile light weight alternative to my heavier steel anchor that I rarely use. I have a 12' aluminum boat and a kayak and wanted something that would easily fit in my fishing bag and would work for either boat. It does work well enough. However, this last season I tried using it with my 12' aluminum boat in a slow river with a muddy bottom and it wouldn't grab the bottom. I found I would drift quite a ways downriver before it'd stick on something and hold. For lakes it seems to work just fine though. I don't anchor that often, so works for me.

This thing sinks
It is heavy, well made, reasonably priced... Going to use it with my fishing kayak and it looks like it will do the trick. I'm happy with it.Packaged well

Warning: peen screw end before using
After reading other reviews of folks loosing this anchor, I carefully inspected the item to determine how to avoid this. The screw which attaches the loop at the top is vulnerable to turning out of the threaded body of the shaft. To prevent this peen (pound) the screw end flat where it comes out of the shaft body to prevent it from turning ever again. This will make the loop permanently attached to the shaft and you will then own the finest anchor for canoeing that I have ever used. I brought this anchor to the BWCA for 10 days and fished every day using the anchor. It is amazing in that it folds so small, is so light weight, and holds so well on rocky bottom lakes.Hopefully the manufacturer will fix the design flaw so no one has to worry about leaving the anchor on the bottom of a lake. Until that time a simple fix will ensure you have many years using a great anchor.

Love this
All my yak buddies are jealous I have this! It’s great, hooks onto rocks, also works as a free weight in deep water to help keep your yak from drifting. It’s compact and the lock that fits around it to lock the legs in place is a great feature and makes it easier to stow away or keep the legs open when in use.

OK
Anchor is an anchor. Nothing fancy. The collar seems a bit loose and looks like it might occasionally fail to hols the prongs open or closed but so far ok.

Perfect to keep an inflatable raft/paddle board/kayak in place in water with little to no current
I needed an anchor to tie onto a 18 foot foam Aqua Lily Pad to keep it from floating downstream in the river/lake behind our house. The river has a slow-moving current so the anchor didn't need to be that big and the 1.5 pound version of this anchor worked perfectly. I've also used this anchor on my kayak and paddle board with very satisfactory results. If you're getting an anchor to use anywhere with a decent current or you're looking to anchor any watercraft with a decent bit of weight to it, then I would suggest getting a heavier version. The anchor's top where the loop is to tie off a rope wasn't as pictured on Amazon's website so I'm including my own pictures here. It's a detached loop connected with a metal pin but it's sturdy and I haven't had any issues with the connection becoming loose.

Works well if used right.
This is a great little anchor and I'm very happy I purchased it.I only have used it three times this past month. It works great for light craft & I'm 225 lbs (including the minimal gear I have).I kayak on the North Saskatchewan River (within the city of Edmonton boundaries). It is a fairly large and fast flow volume river, to say the least. I do my best to paddle upstream for an hour, then the return trip would be just minutes floating with the current. Now I will set anchor on fairweather days and relax, take photos, visit with the folks passing by, etc. I might repurchase the same anchor for kayak #2? At first, I had thought that the lightweight wouldn't be enough, but it is. Just make sure you twist the lock ring to secure in open position.
