MX418/C Cardioid Condenser Microphone, 18" Gooseneck with Attached XLR Preamp, Shock & Flange Mount, Snap-Fit Foam Windscreen

I run sound for a poetry and music open mic locally. I have a good array of vocal microphones for singers, but I really needed a dedicated speaking microphone that I can put on the podium for poetry readers. This mic is perfect for that application. The gooseneck is easy to adjust, so my speakers can position it comfortably for their needs. It does a nice job of rejecting feedback, and produces great clear sound with a minimum of EQ adjustments. My guests really like it because it is unobtrusive and low pro profile, which is great when they take photos or videos. It is worth investing in the mic stand too - overall, a terrific mic, very practical!

Works for people that tend to not talk near or directly at the mic. It sounds good if you have a tuned system. Very easy to position.

This is the second mic of this model we have purchased and placed in our church. They are great for the podium. It comes with various mounting options. Be aware that this will require a phantom power supply if your mixer amp does not have that feature built in. That is a minimal cost, along with a second patch cord that will also be required. The first mic has been in place about 8 years and has performed flawlessly. When looking for a second mic I was very happy to see they still have this model available.

It was really easy to replace an old microphone and set this up on a wireless base. Too bad it was too long for our use and only bent at one end. The base is on a rather small lectern so the wireless base had to be almost vertical stuck on with Velcro and it was impossible to bend to get it in the right place.

This is an awesome mic picks up well. And is very clear. Definitely glad to have gotten it.

Replaced our old gooseneck mic in our Church. Works great! You can't beat Shure quality. A tip, make sure your Amp has a phantom power supply to run this condenser type mic.

Wrong picture shown. Wanted to order the microphone with the large weighted base. What I received was the mic meant to be mounted through a table top. The stands were small and not very heavy, intended to be screwed to the surface, not just sitting on the table top. It was intended for a location that is a NO-drill-a-hole place. I have two other places that use this received type of mic, so it is not really a loss. I can buy a mic stand that will fit. And then any of my mics will work. But apparently the /C model is what I got. What I thought I was getting was the D/C model. Double Check your selections and don't trust the picture.

Outstanding quality microphone for the pulpit and altar of our church. The microphone length is the right length for taller people, yet works just fine for shorter people, as well. As is typical with Shure gooseneck mics, the top and bottom portions of the gooseneck are flexible, while the middle is rigid. Highly recommended for house of worship applications.

This is an awesome mic and works very well. I would buy another one if I needed another one.

First take after setting up and testing: the mic is good. Further testing to be done. Shipping from Amazon was anything but - - it was shipped from the U.S. only in the Shure box, with tabs to open/close, which were not sealed, and were open when I picked it up. The mic itself was not in its proper position in the box. While Amazon sometimes ships items in a much larger box, this was not acceptable for a mic at this price point, or any price point
